the collages are the result of some ppl having a lot of free time on their hands and it probably does remind them of the good times or of home or whatever.....

Yeah people have done that everywhere i've worked. maybe the reasons vary from person to person. I have a pic of my dog up and one of my boyfriend and I. That's all, when i'm having a bad day or just randomly I look at them and I smile. Maybe that's why people do it or maybe to remind them why they're at work everyday. Who knows.

I had a collage but it was kind of an accident. Ppl would give me pictures and I'd stick them on my cork board. I accumulated a lot after a year or so. It's kind of a conversation starter and it depends what it's a pic of. If it's you being funny with your friends you can look at it when you're having a bad day. If it's your hot b.f. you can make your other coworkers jealous...etc :)

yeah having pictures is like an inspiration. for people who can get thru the work day.

a person that hates his job might go into work wanting to punch or cuss at his boss but by the time he reaches his desk or locker and looks at a picture of his family they suddenly lose that anger and realize no matter how bad it seems you have to work and support your family.

i know its not reality but think of the episode of the simpsons when Homer got the job at the power plant and Burns put up a plaque that said *your here forever*. and the whole episode was based around maggie. at the end the family wondered wheres maggie pictures. and Homer had them at work on the plaque and he changed it to where it said *do it for her*.

what he said. to evoke happy thoughts and feelings, or if you ever have to work late and feel like being with your family. when you become an adult you get to be a little corny. the fact of the matter is that if i wanted a bunch of photos of my family next to where i spend most of my time during the day, i wouldn't even think about what people would have to say about it. so i doubt there is some big, super rational reasoning for it.

i had a colleague once, who also had a photo at his work desk. but that was not his family member's photo, but him own lol
asked why is he doing this, he got a little embarrassed and told smth like he's the most beautiful person to him lol
funny dude he was, he also had a pic of his car hanged on the wall near his work table lol

It's there to fool people into thinking that I have a good marriage. I also do this with public show of affection towards my stone faced bitch of a wife.

God, I love social standards.

i have noticed a lot where i work... its always older ladies tho that have them up [collages i mean] and they ALWAYS have hot daughters, so i dont mind.

this one lady had to train me on safety or some shit, wasnt payin attention, and she was hot as balls. wearing a tank top and short skirt [see why i wasnt paying attention?] and she had pics on her cork board of her and her friends at a bar and stuff... i wanted to steal the board.

but i agree, if its ugly ppl and their ugly familes, take em down.
