Paradox Called My Block

'Pac mentions, I think in at least two songs, the "paradox called my block." What does he mean by this? If I'm not mistaken, a paradox is two things that seem contradictory but are really similar; they really go together. Does he mean that it's a paradox because in one sense, it's HIS block because he lives there but in another sense, that it isn't because he doesn't obviously own it? I've wondered about this. Can someone shed some light on it?

on the block people love each other, yet fight and murder each other. his representation of the block is analagous to his vision of both the black community and the ghetto theme of his music. paradox.

Well thats just an interpretation, no one knows what pac really meant. But by all means, it was a very good interpretaion.:thumb:

right, it is only an interpretation, but it seems parallel to Tupac's way of thinking. I guess it's the closest i can get to a genuine answer to my question

This is why you can't always take lyrics literally:

1. Artists often put words together just because they rhyme.
2. Sometimes the artists don't even know what they are trying to say.
3. Artists are human, they aren't saying anything that even an above average person can't understand. They mess up, too.
Example: Eminem feat. Stat Quo, Obie Trice, 50 Cent, "Spend Some Time" --

"...said she's an inspiring actress, done movies with black actors..." -50 Cent

should have been:

"...said she's an ASPIRING actress, done movies with black actors..."

I think that Pac's wordplay was complex at times, but this is probably just a case where he kinda knew what the word meant, it had some relevance, sounded good, and he'd heard or seen it used in that kind of context before.

Other time is in Military Mindz, by the way.

I've never heard Pac say something just because it rhymed. Pac wasn't a filler rapper, his words had meaning (except when he talked about fucking lol)

I said "artists" meaning artists in general. But dig through some unreleased Pac tracks and a lot them are just filler.
