i cant remember if they attacked each other.

if it was maybe it was due to WESTSIDE CONNECTION, but i cant hardly see pac being offended by them proclaiming to be the representations of the West

They didn't really attack each other, Pac just dissed Cube for a couple reasons, most of which are explained in The Last Interview. First, he was mad at people attributing the whole "West Side" thing to Ice Cube, saying that it was him who brought it to the forefront, not Cube. Later on in the interview, he got mad at Cube for "Bow Down" saying that he was more than likely influenced by Pac dropping "Hit 'Em Up" and then jumping on the bandwagon. He was upset that Cube didn't do that until after Pac got out of jail and made it major.

I heard, as with Meth Man, Ice Cube recorded a couple songs with Pac, had at least one session, and Cube has them but does not intend in anyway to release them ever...anybody who could add to this, props

2pac didn't really diss Ice Cube, he just kinda critize the track "Bow Down" and that Cube could do a better track than that. Pac stated he has studied and mastered his style.

cube is a business man and he figured 'westside'= money after seeing the results pac had (who actually wasnt in it for the money although thats one of the predominant themes in all his baller-type songs about the westside...)
i see what pac was meaning though

Where'd you hear this from? And when did this supposedly take place?
It was someone on this board and I honestly can't remember who it was. It was a couple months back in an Our Block thread I think...[supposedly] took place in 1996...anyone else who could contribute some info to this, much respect. pz

What Pac said about him didn't really make sense however. Cube, Mack 10 and WC did Westside Slaughterhouse, their first track together dissing the east coast, came out in 94, and West Up! came out in 1995, so Cube was actually involved with the east/west dispute before Pac was. By the way DEA, that last interview is retail, so you should remove the link

They might have started it, but they didn't make it big, that was Pac. Plus the beef was mostly between Ice Cube and Common because Cube took one of Common's lines about Boyz in the Hood as a dis, and then it just turned into an coastal thing, but Common came back and dissed the fuck out of the whole Westside Connection in "Bitch in Yoo". But with Pac, he had more of a reason to turn it into a coastal thing because he got shot there and hardly anyone was reaching out to him, which was fucked up because he always had nothing but love for them, up until that. And even after the East-West thing got major, Pac tried to fix the problem starting with the One Nation and Death Row East projects.

So basically yes, maybe Cube set it off, but it wasn't that serious since it was over what ended up being a reference perceived as a diss. But Pac made it crazy 'cause it stemmed from him getting shot, which we'd all agree is way more serious than a questionable one-liner.
