Pac being best at lyrical skills.

What most of us i think find interesting and inspiring is his subject matter and ability to come real about social issues and political awareness.Thats what his best quality is i think.

But which song(s) can you think of Pac being best at as lyricist. which song(s) he comes strong with lyrical skills in your opinion?

But when I think of a lyrical Pac song, Fuck Em All takes the crown.
really? i always thought he stopped rapping cause he realized the lyrics were getting pretty lame near the end.

I always thought Holla At Me was great.

I think Pac fans tend to have a different definition of "lyrical skills." Not to shit on anyone's opinion, but the majority of the songs that have been listed aren't really lyrical at all from a hip-hop standpoint. Regardless, here are some songs that I think Pac showed some lyrical skills in:

First 2 Bomb comes to mind (one of the few I agree with that has been mentioned)
"Tell me, baby what's your frequency?
I see you making proposals full of verbal indecencies when you're meeting me"
"Holding my position, my competition is never ready
Ripped like a machete, my alias Makaveli"
"Create rhymes that's so ferocious that the bassline
Runs from my vocals everytime a nigga say his rhymes"
"Tell me, nigga, how much you can handle?
Banging on wax, I turn this track into a Roman Candle"
"First to bomb, first is the calm, then the panic
Soon as my niggas break, we earthquake the whole planet"
"Live-long committed, I write songs and spit it"

Other songs that come to mind:
Don't Sleep
Don't Stop
When Thugz Cry (a lot more descriptive than he normally was in this one, especially in the first verse)
Fuckin wit the Wrong Nigga (the first verse is definitely one of Pac's more lyrical verses)

Yea i too think we have different definition of what good lyrical song is like and thats like softer/easier definition i think.I think its hard to choose from Pac songs because simply he doesnt have much.So its easy then i guess.Thats why im saying what is a good lyrical song? how do you define? we might define certain way but then ask somebody whos more general hip hop head and he might define differently.

All some of the best. The pre- dr stuff is just too good. But if I had to pick a death row song which reminds me of pre, it would be "They dont give a fuck about us" That song is real in every way.

Not to be a dick, but this thread is asking about LYRICAL songs. Those songs listed all have depth and emotion and connect with the listener, but they are hardly lyrical.

Me And My Girlfriend - a brilliant idea how to use a metaphor in a right way... "fingerfucking you..." damn... i even wrote a material on that song once in the university... found a plenty of different stylistic effects...
btw always admired This Ain't Living, Pac's flow is brilliant with those razor-sharp rhymes...

Jacked off a lyrics website so God forgive me if anything here is wrong...

I got glad bags with enemies
Cut up so they remember me
Soak em wit Hennessey
So they relatives know it's me
You can bet your last dollar
I'll dick em' and holla
Ridin' these hoochies
Like they some heavy ass Chevy impalas
Jump up and get your ass shot up
from a profit pick my glock up
I'm bustin' wit such effinciency
Poppin' nobody got up
Holla Outlaw riders
Mash upon the gas pedal
Vacate the scene
Count the cash and stash the precious metal
Here come the coppers
The swat team and the helicopters
Them crackas is crazy
Why? Cause they'll never stop us
I watch Arnold Swarchzenegger
bust somebody in the movie
Now I want to do it too
ooh niggaz is chewed through
True to the game
I claim Outlaw riders
We give a fuck what they try

... and that's where it cuts off, Pac never finished his verse.

Being lyrical doesn't mean being word-playful

lyr·i·cal
adj.
1. Expressing deep personal emotion or observations
The dictionary's definitions of words don't always coincide with the hip-hop/rap definitions. We can all agree on that.

But anyway, contrary to the textbook definition of "lyrical," I view it as pertaining to complexity and innovation in terms of word usage (similes, metaphors, alliteration, punchlines, etc.). I think we can all agree on that too.

I wouldn't consider Pac a lyrical rapper, but he has a few songs (which I listed in a previous post) where he came lyrically on-point to a degree. One of the main reasons why a lot of people consider Pac a lyrical rapper is because it's Pac and because his voice just takes over you--and this is definitely a great characteristic for an artist to have, perhaps more so than being "lyrical." However, if you just read his lyrics in your head or imagine another rapper reciting the same words, it has less of an effect since it is no longer Pac's voice breathing life into those very lyrics. (Example: Most people probably didn't give a shit about Napoleon's verse from the Still I Rise version of U Can Be Touched. However, I bet when those same people heard the OG with Pac rapping basically the same verse, all of a sudden it seemed 50x better than it really was. This is what I mean. Not to say Pac was overrated, but that he had the ability to enhance his lyrics into 3D when recited, which is more of a vocal characteristic than one of lyrical skills. Just my opinion.)
