Non-Americans: Why do you care about the American election?

Because America is the most powerful country in the world. The decisions America make has an effect on the rest of the world so naturally we'll want to know what's going on. It reamins to be seen how the outcome will affect me specifically, just as it remains to be seen how it will affect you.

How will the outcome specifically affect you?

I'd post this in WOW but I want to cast a wide net.
considering none of your wars have been waged on your own soil, and that you're a large player in the world economy, it makes sense for people who care about the world situation to stay on top of things. those same said non-americans also take interest in the current situation in china and iraq for example, so it's not that we care so damn much about who's president in america above all things. undeniably, it's an event that gets a lot of media coverage all over the world, regardless of how important anyone considers america to be, so if anything it's because we get it shoved in our faces constantly.

edit: note my america anger.

It won't affect me in any specific or direct way but since America has a big influence on the world I ultimately do care about the election and it might affect me indirectly. I don't care about politics whatsoever, I just read their opinions on religion, homosexuality, abortion etc. to get a feel of their state of mind. I don't know how right I am but after trying to read between the lines when hearing Obama speak I want him to win. I went into more detail in some thread in WoW but the prospect of a good human being inspires more confidence in me than a "good President". It's rare to see people like him in high positions in politics. We'll see what he does.

And ultimately I do care about what happens to America so I'd like to see things things improving.

Like the others posted, the US is the strongest country in the world who has great influence with other countries, even US domestic policies can effect our own policies. A good economic policy can benefit ours, a poor one can be detrimental.

And of course knowing the politics makes shows like The Daily Show and Colbert Report funny.

I really don't think many Brits care, maybe other parts of the world do, but because the people of Britain get fucked in ass daily by our own government, we no longer care about politics a huge amount.

on this forum it's quite clear, because it's an international forum for people who care. I never even once saw any news about America on our news channel. Most people don't even know about American Election, where and who are the candidates etc. even tho most people here are really way too much into politics but all they show on our news channels are our Polish politics and stupid little things nobody normal should care about.
I myself care about American election for the same reason I care about who will rule China, North Korea, Russia and such. It's just for my and my family's sake. They are all huge players who could seriously affect whole world.

dont really care although it will affect us all indirectly like people have said, but i keep my ear out there to see who is prez an to see whos the next dumbass is, bush was a legend at it lol.
but this election im more into cos obama in it. not supportin any1 jus interesting cos a black guy runnin for it and will be interestin to see wot the outcome will be.

my theory is if obama wins then it means US and A is really goin bust and so they gonna blame the black guy. but if mccain wins then obama never had a chance.

I live in Canada. My work depends on the movie business which is mostly coming from America. I am more affected by the policies over there than up here in Canada.

It would be better for me if the Canadian dollar dropped compared to the American. Hopefully back to the old 70-80 cents days. We already are paying about %18 more for the same products you guys have but then it would actually be fucking justified.

Thus, why I am interested in who will be elected next and how it would effect the economy down there. Get your shit together!

Because what happens in the American government directly influences the Australian government, ie, who the US goes to war with, we follow, and I have friends over in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Because my sister still lives there.

Because I am moving back there next year.

Because if the US fucks up the environment any worse we all suffer.

Because if the US fucks up their government anymore and gets nuked or nukes someone, we all die.

Because my wife is American and we plan on moving there within the next couple of years. We'll move sooner if Barack wins.
