Nexus 4 RIP

Giving it a second thought though... why do you want the S4 or HTC One and not another N4, which is 50% of the price and comes with stock Android?

The Xperia Z is in between but is waterproof and more rugged, like I mentioned.
This might fall in the irrational behavior bucket, but here's why:

I paid $400+ for my N4. If I bought another one, and assuming I can get a brand new one for $300, that would essentially be me dishing out $700 total for a phone that was released 7 months ago. In the end, I just still have a 7-month old N4 even if I bought it brand new today. On the other hand, I could just buy the most recent, top of the line phone and have the novelty factor of having a new phone as opposed to a new phone that I am well used to. Also, I pretended for a long time that I don't care about 4G. But just using other people's phones, there's a noticeable difference in how fast they pull up information as opposed to my N4 because of not having 4G.

Also, I'm surprised no one suggested I try and replace the screen. I'm thinking of taking a stab at it. Links here:

I understand that. I'd also buy something else in the end, probably. HTC One won't feel much better though. Even the screen is of the same size (though better) and the camera is actually worse, and the slight performance difference is going to be neglible, perhaps it might feel clumsier because of Sense. The phone itself is kinda heavier, the main thing you'll notice is the design of course.

You can replace the screen, you can even get it replaced by someone else for a small fee, but I bet the display is going to be hella expensive.

edit: Found something surprisingly cheap here, dunno if crappy or good, and if there's everything there:

^didn't you see my ebay link? It seems everything I need (LCD + digitizer) is $80 bucks. That seems to be the going rate.

Good, you can try then.

How were you satisfied with your N4 though? I totally have to replace my phone after all, I'd love the S4 but damn, it's so fucking expensive. N4 is like 60% of its price, but dunno. The relatively short battery life kind of scares me, and its average camera and screen. I think the prices on smartphones kind of skyrocketed too fast.

I liked it a lot. The only complaints would be battery life and its fragility. I don't use my camera for anything other than taking pics of random shit and nightlife so I don't particularly care much for the camera. If picture looks shitty, I can always put an Instagram filter on it :).

My dad has the S4 and I think it's really massive. Also, it's still very similar in design and feel to the S3. Why don't you wait for the mini version that's coming out and see how much that will be?

I'm thinking of trying to replace this N4 screen but as an alternative, waiting for the stock version of the HTC One.

The S4 isn't really bigger than the N4 though. It's about the same size + slimmer and just a tad lighter. It's too expensive though, I think.

HTC One is bigger than the S4, despite having a smaller screen, but it does look cool.

I always thought the mini versions are kind of homo, made for girls. Also, I dig the bigger screen, just not the prices of phones with bigger screens. Maybe I'll look for some last year models. Maybe the S3, since the price has dropped nicely, although it does look kind of shitty in comparison to newer phones.

There's also that Xperia ZR coming out, which is supposed to be a mid ranger but a really great one.

I feel like the S4 is wider hence why it looks bigger.

N4: 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1 mm (5.27 x 2.70 x 0.36 in)
S4: 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm (5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 in)
137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3 mm (5.41 x 2.69 x 0.37 in)

and that shows exactly that. the problem with wide phones is that they look and feel much bigger because you're always going to compare phones in relation to how they feel in a single hand.

But yeah, I bought the parts, should be coming by Friday. I'm excited.

Do they have subsidized phones in Poland? T-Mobile stopped doing that here in the US which is good in some ways but not others. I'll probably leave T-Mobile for another carrier once my contract runs out in December because I just don't want to pay full price for phones (N4 was an exception but now I'm not sure I'd want to drop $400-600 on a phone ever again. Too fragile for the high price). I'd honestly rather pay a higher monthly bill. It seems a bit irrational but the higher bill on AT&T and Verizon comes with better signal and faster internet.

yeah, it's a scam because you're still on a contract. It's just that it goes from service plan to hardware plan.

I'd have to pay $250 up front for the HTC One and then $10 bucks a month for 24 months or pay $270 up front for the S4 and $12 per month for 24 months. Then they say the phone plan is no contract but it's such garbage because of course, you're locked into a 24 month contract to pay your phone off. You can pay it off in one installment but then you'd be paying close to $600 for a phone.

T-Mobile's sales pitch is that you will save so much money with their cheap "no contract" plans that in two years, you will have saved something like $100 over their competitors. $100 in 2 years for shittier coverage and lower speeds? LOL I spent that before 10pm Saturday night. Fuck those savings.

The reality is, there are no good mobile options out there in the US because either plans are too expensive or the phones are. Everything sucks and you just have to choose which dick you have less of a problem sucking. Just like cable TV and internet.

I'm part of a family plan so I pay 63 a month and that's including the 20 a month for my phone. Yeah i bought a nexus 4 from t mob cus i needed a phone asap and it was still sold out, not a big deal really. You can potentially get the 30 a month plan from t mob that only has 100 mins but unlimited data and use something like whatsapp for phone calls and have a cheap ass plan including your phone payment. My friend has a 50 or 60 dollar plan and pays some 10-20 dollar amount for his phone through them so he pays less than what he would pay anywhere else as well. T mob is still the cheapest you can get if you ask me, as far as the big 4 are concerned. Another thing is that t mob lte may be rolling out slowly but its better than at&ts and verizons, simple cus they are using lte release 10 which means they are already capable of pushing lte-advanced while at&t and verizon are not. Their real world speeds are hardly slower too, its not noticeable at all really because you don;t use your phone for anything that needs that fast of speeds

Your phone prices are mad in the US.

I got the S3 the month it was released. Paid £28 a month for the contract. 600 mins, unltd texts and 1 gig of data. Phone was free.

It's just a tiny bit wider. I think it might look bigger because of the huge screen as well, though.

Yeah, we do have subsidized phones in Poland,. If we pay 75$ a month for 3 years we can get the SGS4 for like 200$ oO.
Also, prepaid is significantly cheaper, so I just stick to it and buy phones off contract. I pay like 10-20$ a month for calls, texts and internet.
Usually that way every year I could sell my old phone and buy a newer one paying 200-250$ extra in worst case. Now it's impossible.

so, I bought a replacement screen with digitizer and bezel for $115 and replaced it. Took about 2 hours, mainly cause some screws were a bitch to unscrew lol.

I could've got the stuff without the bezel for like 80 but word on the street is it's a bitch trying to separate screen from bezel.

I might try to. You just download the app, right? First million to do something with that app get the album for free, if I'm not mistaken.

I won't set time aside for it, since it'll end up on RN probably before even Jay leaks it, but....
