My momma was robbed.

Wow, I just found out my brother has been into drugs for a while and he jacked $3000 worth of my moms jewlery. She only has what she is wearing right now. Including my dad's jewelry. He stole an iPod and some other expensive shit.

It's a shame b/c he has been out of prison and has been clean and was doing great for 3 years. He even got a g/f about a few months ago that is a positive in his life...but apparently he made friends around his apartments that weren't too great.

Anyway, his g.f was the baby sitter so now i have to go baby sit @ 5:00am b/c my mom fired her b/c she wouldn't tell us were my bro went to pawn it.

I know every family has their trouble maker or two, but I am getting seriously tired of my sister and bro.
:suspicious:

Why do people do great after messing up then they fuck up?

Also, why are people like my mom willing to help my sis or bro out more than me when they fuck up?

Because your mom hoped to be able to help your brother so he doesn't fall back in drugs. And she is helping you less because she knows you can do it.

It's always the bad kid that gets more help because he NEEDS more help. However if after all that help he back stabs your mom like that, she's going to have to stop helping him like that for sometime.

Addiction is tough though and it's easy to fall back in. Those who are addicted need lots of help, regardless of how shady they become.

Sorry but i have to disagree. Unless you are a crack baby, you are not born addicted to drugs. Druggies get all these special treatments like it's not their fault that they are dependent on that trash. I've had many friends and even family members that have become addicted to different things and i completely cut them out of my life. Sorry to be so cruel but from my experience even if you try to help them get out of the habit at the end of the day they always go back to it. So in my mind it's not because it's a "disease" it's because they are idiots and they have made their own bed and now they need to sleep on it.

Word.

I've always been curious as to what seperates a recreational drug user from an addict.

I get your point of view but I have to disagree. Addiction IS a disease. Obviously there are some addicted people who don't give a shit about other people helping them and aren't helping themselves. Those are idiots. But some other addicted people that actually try to help themselves are worth helping. You can't generalize like that. Not all addicts are selfish idiots.

And yes they are to blame for first trying the drug but it's not everybody who gets addicted to those. You have to have the personality and the brain for it to be addicted like that. And then it's very hard for them to stop.

Think about all those people who are addicted to cigarettes. Yes they started smoking it and are now hooked on it but no they never meant to be addicted to the nicotine and most of those cigarette smokers do relapse after quitting several times. And that is regardless of how motivated they are.

And don't give me examples that prove me wrong. I am not wrong and this is case by case.

I've always been curious as to what seperates a recreational drug user from an addict.
A recreational drug user is one that uses the drug from time to time. An addict needs that drug to live.

Example with alcohol:
When you go out from times to times you drink, you are a recreational user. When you need to drink even on no occasion to live you're an addict/alcoholic.

With drugs it's the same but a lot of addicts will claim they are recreational drug users and can't stop when they want. Truth is, they can't stop when they want. They think they can but they can't.

i agree with the underlined, but i just don't understand the addiction thing. I mean, i studied psychology for a while so maybe there is a chemical imbalance in his brain when he doesn't have drugs in his system but he was receiving help and didn't want to take the drugs that was offered by the doctor. We just found out he was spitting the shit out.

I pretty much agree with this statement. I honestly hate to see drugies get into programs like practically giving them jobs that pay well with other benefits and stuff. Meanwhile, I am stuck working minimum wage jobs and the same amount or more education. I just don't get it.

My brother and I were raised similar and I never have tried drugs in my life. My father was an alcoholic but my brother despises it. Me on the other hand, i can drink heavy and not be effected even though i am skinny. I like to drink, but i don't get addicted.

My brother has no excuse. He was the first to graduate in the family even though he is 2nd oldest. My crack head drug-dealing sister doesn't have an excuse neither.

My oldest bro came out great, the next two are the ones i am talking about, then there is me...No excuse if u ask me. They are between us and nothing special truly happened in their life to put blame on anything.

I realize this carmi. What interests me is how one can be a recreational drug user and not become addicted, while others become addicted.

Shadows, don't try and understand addiction. You never will.

It's about personality. Some people have addictive personalities. And brain chemicals. See I have an addictive personality when I did weed it was all I thought about. I wouldn't stop until I had none. Thing is I dealt through my bf's friend so unless my bf contacted his friend, I had none. That stopped me. However I tried cigarettes and I am totally not hooked on it. Why? I don't know.

It's all about personality and brain chemicals. It just doesn't work out the same for everybody.

It's also about self-control but for some people it is really a disease that they can't control alone.

Maybe the non-addicts have other things like fucking a lot, or buying useless shit at the mall or working or watching movies.

There are ppl that are addicted to sex, gambling, food, porn, video games, exercise...etc.

How do YOU have sex and eat without becoming addicted? There is an imbalance in an addicts brain...it's kind of like an obsessive compulsive disorder. These ppl had an emotional or social dysfuntion to start with and were more likely to become addicted to SOMETHING...ANYTHING...and it just happened to be drugs. So with drugs not only is there brain telling them that they need this...there is a physical dependance with drugs.
