Wow, the end of the recording has been released and it pretty much absolves Mel of any wrong doing, as you can see by his last words.
Gibson: "No more pain, bitch, you took my heart for granted and ran it straight into the planet, into the dirt I can no longer stand it. Now my respect, I demand it. I'ma take control of this relationship command it and I'ma be the boss of you now, goddammit! Fuck you, Hollywood, I'm leavin' you, my life sentence is served, bitch, and it's just..."
So all that ranting was actually about Hollywood, not her. Go Mel!

This is what happens when people date people who are utterly wrong for them. Idiots. Stop having kids by people who you only like briefly.. then you can leave them so much easier.

The thing is, this is a personal conversation between 2 people. I know the things he said are completely out of line, but still... I don't see how someone's business which leads to maybe the end of a career is fair.
That's like me recording a conversation about you wanting to eat your boss' kidneys cause you hate him so much - and leak it throughout the whole company.
I know it's a vague comparaison, but still... this is maybe why I've always hated celebs and all the gossip surrounding them. It's all about digging into someone's life and dishing out all the crap on em. Also, you're looking at a divorce/split up type situation... anyone that has divorced parents or seen how it rolls know that the shit gets really really ugly...

Well, I think it was taken out of context and there's some bigger story to it. She sounds like she's acting like a victim and he sounds like his action was a reaction to something that had happened earlier. From this tape it sounds like he dumps her because she looks like a slut but that would be ridiculous. If he was a real asshole he wouldn't let her stay at his house.

Apparently his ex-wife has also come out and defended him by saying that in the 28yrs they were married, not once was he abusive to her or his children. This is the first time she's really ever seen his act like this.
I can't believe I'm getting kicks out of this. I'm waiting for another audio of him, hoping that he'd yell: GIVE ME BACK MY SON! like in ransom. lol
