aight i had ma typography class today and ma teacher wanted us to do a poster on any great american figure. His ideas was it gotti be somebody 10 years old and had a major impact on our society.By the way this is a college class. So ppl said a whole lotta names like mohammed ali, frank sinatra, elvis,MLK,malcom X, and a whole lot. So i peeped nobody called out pac so i yelled out 'Tupac Shakur' and ma teacher said "WHOOO" n i repeated again "TUPAC SHAKUR" and then he was like "no he is too young and he did nothin for the society".....so the class started laffin at me for callin out pac..i thought it was kinda funni plus sad how ppl dont recognize pac n his contribution to our society..2 be specific the black communities..but o well..what i see is pac wil alwayz b pac in our eyes..we aint love em when he was alive n ppl still aint lovin him after death..thats sad.. :thumb:

He did some good things and some things he did that wasnt right. Your teacher is not a tupac fan, therefore he wouldnt even begin to to know anything about him. When someone does more bad then good, people can throw the bad things back harder and those who really dont know that person , only knows the bad side...

I think Pac did some good things for the world, and the rest i didnt respect.

Peace!

Pac has a negative image by a lot of people, they see him as the violent guy, who raped a girl and was the king of gangsta rap. That's sad, but I've noticed it more than once. :(

seriously, i see pac fans talking a bunch about how he changed the world, but they can never get beyond that. pac was a musician, and his music was used to provoke thought. pac was not an activist, a politician, or the traditional personality whom someone regards as a changer. mohammed ali changed america by refusing the draft and giving power to muslims in america with his refusal to acknowledge his former name, malcolm x and mlk obviously changed america quite a bit, and i think it cheapens their phlights to pair them in the same catagory as entertainers. pac had a voice, but at the end of the day he was a rap musician and not a social activist. i think your teacher is partially right, and you are as well.

pac definitely had potential as a future activist, but until the moment he died he was more of a commentator on the circumstances of the traditional american poor black youth.

as much as i love tupacs work and appreciate waht he did as an entertainer, he didnt make any impact to the society in my opinion

sure he made donations and tried to help out the poor and other nice things, but thousands of other people do that and tupac shouldnt be singled out

however i dont think your teacher shouldve said "nothing" but he shouldve said he ddint make a major impact or something ilke that

I remember tupac said that he isn't gonna be the one to change the world but he guaranteed that his music will trigger the mind that will change the world. His music has triggered alot of stuff.

So far in my lifetime I can't think of anyone who's had a bigger impact on society that Tupac. I mean mohammed ali, frank sinatra, elvis and malcom X were never alive when I was. Pac is the GOAT no doubts. :p

let's play devil's advocate here...

what exactly do YOU think pac did for american society?

What exactly did those other people (besides MLK and X do for society)?
good argument ;) :thumb: .... Self96's class is too biased

I am definitely certain 2Pac changed the world although it was not too apparent; he kept a lot of us sane (and still does). Songs like Me Against The World and Baby Don't Cry are great examples; they showed things you are going through are happening to other people too and that you can get through it if you just tough it out. Frank Sinatra and Elvis were great musicians. 2Pac was a great musician and more. If it weren't for 2Pac the world would be a much more depressing place, with a lot more suicides and misplaced anger.

Through his voice and actions (although not always right) he did change peoples lives, and I beleive the lower class communities would feel that much more than some professor. He didnt have a big organization that made the headlines, but I beleive he articulated the fears, anger and oppression many across the United States was feeling. I dont think its right to cut down Pac to just call him a musician and entertainer when he was so much deeper than that.

"no he is too young and he did nothin for the society".
I woulda said then why does he have college classes studying his life?
I agree get some solid evidence and do it anyway :D

i would have to say that Pac didnt change the world, but i would have to say that he indeed changed the outlook among the our generation as well as the black community as a whole. Yea, he was just an artist, but to me he was more than that. If you ask me, Tupac was our generation's Malcolm X, its just a shame that his life was cut short before the rest of the world could actually see what he was bound to be. I just think that his words spoke of change, and sparked young minds to think. When Malcolm X said "by any means necessary", 2pac said that, only in his raps, but nobody wants to make that comparison because he was a "gansta rapper." His words made u think, made u believe i can change this or that, make u say fuck the police, and make u finally decide to stand up for what u believe in.....i got more to say but im tired of typin, lol!!!
