LA or San Francisco?

Hey guys. It's this time of the year that I'm planning my summer trip this year. I already have an invitation from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and on my way back I can basically pick any American city for a connecting flight. However I plan to stay in that city for a couple of days for sightseeing and stuff before catching a flight back home.

The cheapest flight is via LA, San Francisco and Seattle in that order. I decided that it'd be cool to see California and I'm keen to stay in LA unless I can get some opinions from you guys. What's the best place to stay in for a couple of days to experience something new and cool in a few days? I'm talking 5-7 days.

I was considering flying to LA since that's the cheapest option and taking the shuttle bus to SF for a day but I'm not sure if I'll have enough time. In SF I'd like to see the bridge and a couple of those main tourist attractions, eat some food and that's about it. In LA there are quite a lot of things but I don't really know what will I be able to see there yet. I know that I'd like to see some IT companies' headquarters, Hollywood studios, Disneyland and well, experience the city and nice places around.

At the Hawaii university the Dean told me that LA is dangerous but f*ck do they know, I come from Poland so nothing in the US is dangerous for me Though yeah, I'd rather stay in a relatively safe place.

Never been to either, but from those that I know who have been, they liked San Fran a lot more than LA.
That said, if you go to LA, shove a finger in Kim Kardashian's ass for me.

I've never been to LA but I've been to San Fran. I did a few touristy things, like see the bridge, go on the Alcatraz tour, see Fisherman's wharf, hang out in Castro (gay mecca lol) and etc. I had fun and I'm going back at the end of the month, but I was also with a local there so it might be different for you. Two things about San Fran that people might not know:

1. There's hills in downtown area, everywhere, it seems.
2. The weather doesn't really go past 21-22 degrees Celsius, even in the summer. It's also really windy in the summer, at least when I was there early August last year and people told me that was typical.
4. Might not matter to you, but a lot of places (food, small bars) don't accept cards, only cash.
5. San Fran is in the Bay area and where all the tech companies and start-ups are. How many IT companies have HQ in LA? Just curious.

It's fair to say I'd be more excited to visit LA than San Fran. So many famous beaches (santa monica, venice beach), so many famous touristy things, the weather is really nice, and you can go to Compton and find out it's not that ghetto actually.

Go to Cleveland and see their 2 buildings.

SF is better than LA. But neither is that great. San Diego, now that's the place to go. If you go to LA, you need a car or a tour bus. No one walks in LA.

I'm going to Poland this summer. Should I go to Gdynia or to Kalisz? Can't decide there's so much I want to see in both.

It's not really that expensive, the most expensive part are the plane tickets and about as expensive are the apartments. Yeah I still study but I also work. Enough to save for a longer trip once a year, and that's my main priority when I save cash - you know, some of my friends save for expensive cars, some go to Egypt or Greece just to party and lay on the beach. I prefer to spend money travelling, meeting people and seeing things far from home. When I'll grow older and the experience of trying new things won't be as cool for me anymore I will probably switch priorities and start saving for casual things. I already spent most of my time to have a better future, I don't want to allocate money that way yet too. Travelling is what I like the most so even a couple of days far away is a priceless experience.

How many IT companies have HQ in LA? Just curious.

Yeah actually San Francisco surrounding areas have more of them. Plus I could visit Googleplex and post a photo in the Android thread
But right now I'm thinking 5 days in LA would be okay. Hard to find an inexpensive place to stay there and I wouldn't have a car anyways. I could visit San Francisco some other time as I will probably have more opportunities to go there in the future.

Herro. Aloha from Hawaii guys. I wanted to meet Sofi but freaking Delta moved my flight to Seattle for the next day and I barely left the airport - I arrived in the morning and had a flight to Honolulu in the evening so they decided it was barely a transfer, which sucks since I really wanted to explore Sofi Seattle.

Anyway, I'll be in LA first few days of October. Any chance to meet any of you guys out there for a beer or disneyland (no homo)? Anyone planning to be there at that time?

Disneyland is a dope experience, but it's not in LA, it's in Anaheim, which is close to LA anyway.

I think San Diego is the better place to live, but LA is the better place to visit.

I know nothing of SF, but i hope you have fun. I can't afford disney, or i'd be down.
