hey, ever since listenin to Krazy, I always wonder what pac meant when he said "Took a minus, now the hard times are behind us/Turned into a plus, now they stuck livin blinded"? If anyone would mind giving their own thoughts to what he meant by that, id greatly appreciate it, many thanks.

Havent heard the song for a while, but from the quote he's basically saying he took a loss, learning from his mistake, he's moving forward (a plus) now ppl that haven't are living in the shadows.

Since you asked: the theme of "I've conquered my demons now and all my enemies are eating shit" is in most of his songs. It might be the single most dominant theme in his entire oeuvre. Probably has more to do with his attitude/outlook than with anything specific. "Took a minus" clearly refers to the jail time. "They" just refers to the general, faceless judges he was constantly perceiving all around him. He was a paranoid guy (to dramatically understate the obvious).

One of my top favorites.

"Took a minus, now the hard times are behind us/Turned into a plus, now they stuck livin blinded"

I thought he was talking about getting shot, by (who he thought was) biggies guys. Going to jail then signing to Deathrow, hitting number one in the charts.

In addition to the above, I think the word "turned" is important here. He's saying he's had a lot of difficulties and hard-ships in life, from childhood to the run-ins with the law, getting shot, etc. He's saying he took all of that and turned it into a positive (+ plus) by putting it into music.

2pac was in a hurry with Krazy so I think that he didn't put much thought to many of his lyrics. Let's not forget that the Outlawz were left out from this song (fortunately) because they were too slow with their verses, to put it in a better perspective of how fast it all went.

I guess 2pac was like "took a minus rhymes with hard times are behind us, hmm so let's add turned it to a plus and find something that fits well, oh yeah! Blinded fits, so that'd be 'now they stuck living blinded since it's the most obvious choice with that word even if I don't mean anything specific by that".

Later on it was even more random, he probably wanted to mention something about him drinking too much so "Hennesey got me feeling bad time to stop drinking" came very natural and he was just looking for a rhyme to that and that's why "rollin in my drop top jag, whats the cops thinking" sounds kind of random and half-assed, but it rhymes.
Listening to really a lot of 2pac lyrics I get that feeling that he didn't really think much about what he wrote but he was good at it. That's also why all those 'thug n***a", "drug dealer" rhymes come from - things about shooting, killing and bitches at random times. Easy rhymes and it could easily pass under peoples' radars because they would see something deeper, thinking that "oh it's 2pac so he obviously meant something deep by that".

"Rolling in my drop to jag, whats the cops thinking" I think is in reference to either:

1) Cops who treated him like nothing, yet he's able to afford luxury that cops can't even dream of. I'm thinking underestimation of individuals, which pretty much happens all the time.

2) He did talk about buying a car with money he got as settlement of the cop beat down. What would those cops think, knowing their actions earned him brand a car?

Hennesey got me feelin bad, time to stop drinkin
Rollin, in my drop-top Jag, what's that cops thinkin?
Sittin in my car, watch the stars and smoke
I came a long way but still I got so far to go
I don't hear anything random about these lines. I see a perfect picture. I see Pac drinking Hennessey at night, feeling depressed, getting into his car to get away from things for a bit. Driving, seeing cops wondering if they're thinking of pulling him over for drinking under the influence. Then parking, having a smoke with the top down looking up at the stars and reminiscing on his life and his goals "I came a long way but still I got so far to go."

I can literally feel the stress and the weight he's feeling at the time and the relaxation of smoking and just laying back under the stars and taking a breather for awhile. I get the feeling that this was something that actually happened, not something that was randomly said.

I've done the same thing many times in my life (minus the drop top jag LOL).

I hear "what's that cops thinking" like he's looking at a cop in particular, not cops in general.

He did talk about buying a car with money he got as settlement of the cop beat down. What would those cops think, knowing theiractions earned him brand a car?

He bought a Beamer which he crashed shortly after.
