while this could also be because maybe HUMOR itself has evolved since back in the days, i'm going to lean towards the inside jokes-thing. you are right. you have people like traz who would do the audio thing and the pictures, what's basically wrong with the forum is a lot of people stopped doing shit and started expecting shit. once traz died out we had to face the realisation that this board is like a community rally. everybody got their voice, but if there's no one leading we're just a bunch of sheep standing in a big ass herd. so basically, people would have to get off their ass and make an effort to make their posts. like AMs charts, it's not like he made a major effort but it prolly took him a few minutes to gather those infos, feed them into ms word, and then exporting them to image files and ultimately posting them up here. if everyone would spend at least a few minutes on their posts, i'm pretty confident things would be different around here.
we can all pull the "it's just the internet" card on this next one, but fact: through science you can do research on an online community and point out it's characteristics and flaws. i think the problem has a lot to do with the general mentality of a lot of the older members. and it's not like you spend too much time during your day thinking about the persona you project on the internet. i think that for this board to change, all the frequent and old-time users need to take the first step from being catered to, to catering to the newbies that we were once ourselves. i mean i could sit here and record audio about AM and talk about his sexy shoulders and his unibrow (or whatever else you guys would think of as funny) with my corny norwegian accent, but c'mon lol.
very wrong.
you say that almost like it's a threat to the webmaster. "yo rukas, either you put out some raerz 2pax songz or this forum will die" trying to scare people to do something lol.
you have to realise that as far as anyone involved with this site goes, it would probably be more bless than anything else to finally be done with it. rukas is paying for this, and a whole lot of people are spending their time running it, and neither of them are gaining. the only people who gain from coming here are the people who want to come here, and if you want to come here then 2pac rares shouldn't be neccesary. and if you don't want to come here, then why are you asking for 2pac rares?
this site has potential to reach so far beyond just 2pac. lest you forget, this site is more hiphop and other shit than it is 2pac.
this is basically not the problem though. the problem is the lack of posts
(im typing this up in notepad as i go down the pages of this thread and i see these two posts have been touched on, but my point remains)
you might not have expected it from me, but i'll just shed a few extra word on this to make sure we have it right. Militant is pretty much on the money. sicc basically challenged valcuo to not post. well he didn't, he said he bet he couldn't and THEN calcuo decided to leave. some people might say that sicc shouldn't have done what he did, and although i truthfully miss calcuo a little, he was some times on the verge to annoyingly quarrelsome. which is gonna bring up another point i want to make - why is it that whenever someone become a major forum figure (yeah that sounds GAY but you know what i mean) they always take it one step to far and either call rukas or pittsey a faggot and get banned. so i'm sort of putting this out there for anyone who might potentially see some forum fame - DON'T FUCKING LET IT GET TO YOUR HEAD. just because you are funny and own a lot of people, at least have the decency to respect authority. and by authority i don't mean "hey i can ban you", i mean respect that rukas has put in years of work and figures of money i don't even want to start imagining to keep this place alive. if anything, respect that, be the bigger man and don't call him a faggot lol.
while one side of me wants to agree with you, the other does not. remember that ultimately, we, the vip members, rely on the hundreds of unprofiled users that basically make this ship float. the educated old-timers drop the real knowledge occasionally, but i'd say a majority of the forum posts are made up by those who don't have an avatar and a cool signature. meh, maybe i'm wrong.
if this is true, calcuo, i'm sorry. thank you, that was way overdue.
