hi there

sooo i'm getting an iphone. despite the fact that i'm such an anti-apple person, i am getting it because
1- it's my vday gift from my bf
2- the phone i wanted (htc dream) has been discontinued
3- there were no other phones that i liked.
4- i don't like blackberrys

i know there's a number of you who own iphones. can you recommend me some good apps?

and can you tell me the pros and cons of jailbreaking my iphone?

it'd be mucho appreciated!

You could have gotten the LG Eve which is similar to the HTC Dream, just with a much better camera, also looks more stylish.

As for Jailbreaking your phone, generally more liberty in changing things in your phone, custom apps, etc.

Cons, fuck it up and get your shit bricked, but it's fairly easy to break a Iphone.

I say get familiar with the phone first before you do anything, then jail it once you're ready. Saltynuts the Apple guy here, so he can give you a hand.

i had one LG phone in my entire life and it broke so easily. it was such crap. i just don't trust the company anymore when it comes down to mobile phones. and i'm not the only one who owned a LG that broke not long after they got it... so yeah.

iphone was the obvious choice for me with all the phones rogers had available.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is coming out soon also ... If you can hold out for that long, I strongly suggest you wait. It's going to be epic, and when I mean epic .. I mean like 'midget jumping out of a cake and throwing candy everywhere' epic

But Iphone was probably the way to go if you don't want a BB, and don't feel like waiting. :)

yeah and the whole HTC line-up looks amazing.
About LG it depends. They make awesome low to mid end phones in their price tags but not smartphones. I got myself a LG gd510 Pop which is about 100$ here and it's probably the most awesome piece of electronics for these 100$. Well, I got it for free so it's even better. I feel bad selling it though.
It's just that it's a very simple and small none-os touchscreen phone that rocks a 3 inch touchscreen (which is not much smaller than the whole phone itself) and is really cool to use.
Also, thanks to the solar panel I only charged it twice over the whole month. And it's the winter time now.

The MWC was like, three days ago. I wouldn't buy an iPhone until March when some of the announced phones will be coming out and check them out first.

Also, Apple will probably come out with a new generation iPhone this summer or something. You'll be like the kids who don't have the 3G iPhone right now - a loser with a shitty outdated phone.

AroundMe is an app designed specifically for the iPhone user that needs to find information about their surroundings while on the go. Let's say that you are looking for the nearest gas station. By clicking "Gas Stations," AroundMe will automatically compile a list of gas stations that are closest to you over a 1 mile radius from your . After selecting the gas station of your choice, AroundMe will give you directions to get to your destination from your Current Location. It also helps you find hospitals, hotels, movie theaters, parking, pharmacies, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, taxi's and more. AroundMe comes in handy when you're going out of town. Best of all, it's free!

i know iphone is going to release the 4g within the year but i really can't live a year without a phone lol... whatever i'm still quite happy. i can always change phones later.

anyways they have new phones that are always better/faster/etc out every year. nothing new.

No thanks Rahim. I'll just ignore your contribution to this thread. I don't appreciate you going out of your way like that. It's almost rude.

You should have posted here before you bought the phone.

LG can be pretty hit-or-miss and it sucks that you had a bad experience before, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Eve, or the InTouch as it's called in the UK - T-Mobile in the UK are advertising the fuck out of it right now, there's massive billboards all over Birmingham.

I know you said you were with Rogers but Telus have the Droid now also, I don't know if they offer any good plans or anything though.

Anyway, enjoy your iphone i guess.

Casey... I heard bad things from friends who have phones with Telus. Apparently they are shit. I was with Bell and they were shit. Bell & Telus are very similar in how you must buy their phones to be able to use it (can't get it on Ebay) because they don't have sim cards. I'm just not interested in going back to that.

Besides, an iPhone is not so bad. I could have had a simple phone.

Get "Flashlight". It's free. It turns the screen white and puts the light on. Great if it's dark and you're struggling with a keyhole, and probably one of my most used applications!
