To be honest you are running on a pretty outdated spec. My pc is 3.2ghz with 1gb of ram and that is now outdated. New games need new hardware and there isn't much else you can do about it :(
I know. My mom bought the computer like 4-5 years ago (2<. So basically what pieces should my mom buy? An extra hard disk for more memory?

I updated everything I could update so basically there's no other option left.

Now the question is which of these options is the best one? Buy an extra hard disk or a new computer?

How much is a hard disk anyways?

You said you need more ram. There is a huge difference between ram memory and a hard disk, a new hard disk will not solve this problem, you gotta buy more ram....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAM

To buy some more ram isn't expensive and it helps to speed up your PC over all (not only for pc games) .... however, we can't be sure that this will solve your SIM problem (maybe it doesn't run because you don't have 2.4 ghz...?)

So well, it's up 2 you if you want to try 2 update your ram memory or buy a new Pc, it's hard 2 tell, it depens a lot on how much use the PC, if you'd need a new Pc anyway.... like sofi stated, 2 buy a new pc only for Sim 2 seems a lil wreid, but maybe it's time for a new pc anyway and that's only a good reason to buy one.

if it's a 4-5 year old pc it probably can't have more ram.
Old motherboard limits it.

If your pc is too weak for Sims 2 buy a new one.

A pc with average core 2 duo, 2-4gig 800mhz ram and good 640meg GF 8800GT won't be that expensive and it will play everything that came out till this day.

If anyone needs more RAM, check out this site:

www.crucial.com

I bought 2GB of RAM from here about 10 months ago, I only had 1GB before that. The difference is incredible. That site has a system scanner that will tell you exactly what you have right now and make a recommended suggestion of what you should get.

What do I do if I need more RAM and a high processor speed?
You do the same thing you would with anything else once you need more of it. You buy more. Upgrade your computer!

That is your best solution.

that is no true. There certanly is a point where buyin a new pc is better than upgrade the old one. Ugrading your PC seep is not as easy carmi. Best case scenario is that u just have to buy a new CPU, insert it and there u go - but that is unrealistic. You have to make sure that the new CPU fits into the mainboarder, if it doesn't u'd have 2 buy a new mainboard - which might need different ram then ..... so it get's complicated there and it might be just as expensive to buy a new, way faster pc.

So what to do? I guess overclocking your current CPU and some more ram memory would be the way to go for you.... if u want to solve that problem as cheap as possible.

I know how you feel. My computer is well out of date now. I got it in 2001.
Same here man. My computer works fine in a way, but at the same time.. it doesn't. I don't have viruses and spy ware and all that bullshit ruining it. It's just out of date like you said. Shitty amount of RAM and all that other shit. Plus, the power button doesn't work on the tower any more, lol. Plus I get that bullshit blue screen sometimes and I gotta restart.. when the power button doesn't work. So i'm hoping to get something new soon.

u probably got the wrong or outdated drivers when you get that blue screen.

basically I appears that I don't have enough physical memory and processor speed to run The Sims 2 on my computer. I wanted to know if there's a way to fix this without buying a new graphic card or processor.
google system requirements test lab or something like that.. that thing runs tests on your comp to see if it's compatible.. you'll see everything and hwo it measures up

Well mine isnt that bad lol. but it has gone a bit slow and is no good for playing games anymore. Still it has lasted over 6 years and is still good for browsing the web, listening to music etc. My last computer broke after 5 years. I need a faster computer for using AutoCAD though so i will need to get a new one soon.
