To me this whole situation has an eriee resemblance to Brandon Lee's death.

I wonder how the film industry will react in regards to working conditions for actors on films like this.
They didn't force him to lock himself up and not let him sleep 22 out of 24 hours a day.

Actors put themselves through hell so that their performance can be Oscar-worthy.

You think Christian Bale was forced to lose 60 pounds?

i am not that i'm a huge fan of his, but since Ledger's death, that was possibly caused by pills for psychological problems (if lack of sleep is ranked as a psychological problem), but do you think Tom Cruise might start attacking him through the media due to the fact that Cruise is against mood elevating drugs, and might say "see, i told you", or is Cruise only against the mental illness of depression and anti depressants.
if Heath Ledger's passing gets negative response from cruise, i'll laugh my arse off and pray to Ledger and thank him for pissing that prick off.

Like i said, he is not on my favourite list of actors, but i don't depise the man's credentials and ability, but i'm still not watching brokeback mountain (not that i am a homophobe or that i hate gays, i can't stand the sight of two men passionately kissing or having sex for that manner).

Rest In Peace
your an idiot, you stole that off Michael Varkers myspace bulletin

my best guess would be that the film industry and any company affiliated with it would probably deny any and all responsibility for how closely attatched an actor gets to his role. if you need to take a month out of your life and lock yourself in to do a good job, do that. if it kills you, too bad for you. maybe you didn't have the stuff but tried anyway. it's not like he had to do all that stuff, he could have done a mediocre job, but then he wouldn't have gotten it. so he took a risk in order to secure a job and it went bad on him.
He already had the job when he locked himself into the room for a month. He secured the role with a performance that the producers obviously thought was good enough to begin with.

I know they didnt force him to do this type of perp for the role, but the question is do you seriously think any of them tried to stop him? Or tell him its bad for his health? Or even care as long as he put in a great performance? What support networks did they have in place other than getting him sleeping pills?

Those are the questions I want answered.

oh yeah, nah, what i meant was that one way or another, if that's what it took to play a good joker and playing a good joker caused the problems it did, one must ask if the man was not "meant for it". i am speaking in the sense that frodo was meant to destroy the ring. whatever lol, basically i was just suggesting that nobody's gonna change shit or go down for something as if you look at it the way i suggested (imo a perfectly good interpretation) it's "on him". that's the best way i can explain my point lol, sorry.

Well, he probably got the pills himself, or per his request, but he chose to do this himself so ultimately he is to blame for his own actions. if he knew he couldn't take it or it would put a large strain on him he shouldn't have done it, and if he didn't know he should have, or maybe by mere chance and bad luck he just didn't see it coming. but still, it falls back on the fact that he decided to lock himself inside for a month.

i don't know why i'm so invested in this debate btw lol, i'm high right now, but i was just throwing the idea out there for fun... and because i was high. so really, it doesn't mean shit, i agree with you. dying because of stress with your job is definitely fucked up and i don't agree with it.
