Yeah apparently the Joker role and filming of the movie made him suffer from insomnia and he slept about 2 hours a night. He died from a sleeping pill overdose. I dont know, you do the math.

But this is awful, he was a really good actor and was getting better with each performance.

What a shame.

Rest in Peace.

Really, really sad. I was completely shocked to hear this, and apparently he finished his work in The Dark Knight.

It's just a real shame.

R.I.P.
yeah i read filming has been completed...
They will probably still release it, they managed to finish Gladiator and The Crow when the actors died half way through the film...

when i first read this i thought it was a nasty False Rumour. i mean he can not have commit suicide. he was young, successfull and a family above all.

I feel sad he found the role of Joker so intense he had problems. i do feel he was going to become a respectfull actor in his career.

Chris Nolan choose him to play jjoker because he said Heath was not afraid of challenges.

R.I.P Heath

How is this "sad" or "RIP"?

Fuck him he overdosed. Intentionally or not he is obviously an idiot.

He had it made and through it all away. He won't get ym sympathy.

PS. Read how he might have died due to sleep deprivation from making the movie and subsequently taking sleeping pills. Still makes him an idiot but not a complete one if its true.

You're horrible. All is forgiven in death. And you still speak ill of him.

Nevertheless, it's a fact that the NYPD has stated they found prescription sleeping pills at the scene. And Ledger stated in interviews that playing this role had completely ruined his sleeping patterns, sometimes only sleeping 2 hours a night. I can only imagine how bad it must be to keep that up for months on end. Taking your daily prescription and then some because it might not have the same effects overtime, leads to an accidental overdose, so if that's the case, it truly is a shame.

To me this whole situation has an eriee resemblance to Brandon Lee's death.

I wonder how the film industry will react in regards to working conditions for actors on films like this.

my best guess would be that the film industry and any company affiliated with it would probably deny any and all responsibility for how closely attatched an actor gets to his role. if you need to take a month out of your life and lock yourself in to do a good job, do that. if it kills you, too bad for you. maybe you didn't have the stuff but tried anyway. it's not like he had to do all that stuff, he could have done a mediocre job, but then he wouldn't have gotten it. so he took a risk in order to secure a job and it went bad on him.

It looked like, from the previews and everything, that he was perfect for the Joker. Sucks he won't get to see the response from everyone. He obviously put a lot into the character, if what is said is true he died for his work and what is probably his passion. Pretty good way to go out, much respect to him if this is the case.

well i was never really much of a fan of his work, but it's always sad to see someone go that young. if the hype is any measure, it looked like his Joker role was primed to turn him into a superstar. too bad he won't be around to enjoy it. RIP.

i am not that i'm a huge fan of his, but since Ledger's death, that was possibly caused by pills for psychological problems (if lack of sleep is ranked as a psychological problem), but do you think Tom Cruise might start attacking him through the media due to the fact that Cruise is against mood elevating drugs, and might say "see, i told you", or is Cruise only against the mental illness of depression and anti depressants.
if Heath Ledger's passing gets negative response from cruise, i'll laugh my arse off and pray to Ledger and thank him for pissing that prick off.

Like i said, he is not on my favourite list of actors, but i don't depise the man's credentials and ability, but i'm still not watching brokeback mountain (not that i am a homophobe or that i hate gays, i can't stand the sight of two men passionately kissing or having sex for that manner).

Rest In Peace
