Basically, you upload a word document, an excel file, or a powerpoint and you can edit it at the same time with everybody while also chatting about it.

i have heard of this before, and was thinking of giving it a try.

i guess it can be useful when doing group projects next year. but wonering who has the final say/main control over what goes in?

This can also cause a project to flop in a way. Only way to find out is to put it to the test.

But the best way of getting it done is making the effort to actually meet up in person, book a room and get the work done together. This would not be convenient for everyone though, of course, and thats were Google Docs comes in.

Google has a list of open source apps which they are trying to make stable versions of. - meaning that they are in their testing phases and they have big hopes for.

So, it's just really lame?

Provide examples of grand ideas and schemes cooked up by you and your team of trained monkeys. Then explain why it is particularly THIS format that helped form those ideas.

500 words max. Due tomorrow.

Maybe you're just yanking my chain, but I'll bite anyway.

How is it lame?

Well, I mean Google Docs is just a venue for you to work in a team on a project without actually being physically present. The same complications arise from working on it online as in person.

Who has the final say if you're working with a group in a booked study room? Well, shit, that's on the group to decide. The same goes for working on Google Docs.

you've just stated the obvious. what i was actually asking was can someone have control like a moderator or admin on the document? probably the host of the chat conversation or the uploader or whatever?

maybe its the way i asked the question which is why you never understood. well now you can answer me.

Yes, the person who uploads is the admin and has the ultimate authority and decides who can edit it.

Ive used the spreadsheets. For example as a way to keep track of work we all do.

For example Ill have one spreadsheet for every client and if someone else speaks to that client they can remotly update their file and I see the changes automatically on my screen.

Not sure how useful it is without the other Google Apps, we have all our email running through Google too so it looks like Gmail and access to all the docs is given in that.
