Gives Me Hope (GMH)

GMH (Gives Me Hope) is basically the opposite of FML. Inspiring short stores that will have you in awe.

Freshman year, there was a crippled girl bound to a wheelchair. For 4 years, she did physical therapy and progressed to crutches. When we graduated a few weeks ago, she handed her crutches to an officer and walked across the entire stage. The applause from the seniors was deafening. She cried the whole way. GMH

A few years ago I watched a video on youtube about a girl who badly hurt her ankle rounding 1st base after a homerun during a softball game. None of her team members could help her without disqualifying her. Members from the opposing team walked over to her and carried her to each base, gently touch her foot on each base. Their selflessness, GMH

For Sandeep:

Last summer I was working as an assistant wedding photographer in California during the brief period when gay couples could marry there. While working a wedding at the San Fransisco City Hall, I watched two old men in tuxedos help each other up the stairs in order to finally get married after over 30 years together. GMH.

A little girl was dying of cancer and her younger brother had a match for the bone marrow she needed. The doctors told him it was a matter of life and death. After he had the surgery, he asked the doctors how long he had to live. He thought if he gave his bone marrow to let his sister live he would die but he did it anyway. GMH

A long time ago, I was on the verge of committing suicide when a guy came to the roof to have lunch. He saw me climbing over the railing and asked me to share his lunch with him. After receiving my puzzled look, he explained, "everyone should die happy. or at least with a full stomach." We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last month. GMH.

Personally: Through all the drama w/ my ex and her taking my personal belongs that were gifts from her and her family, I went and surprised them. I went out of my way and gave them Zoo tickets b/c I know they can't afford nothing right now.


It's not the best thing I've done by far, but I figure it would be appreciated.
