Fuqua confirms Tupac biopic as next film

Training Day director Antoine Fuqua has confirmed that his next movie will be a biopic about rapper Tupac.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Fuqua revealed that the project has just been greenlit by Morgan Creek chairman James G. Robinson and will go in front of cameras later this year.

"It looks like we're doing Tupac Shakur's movie next in September, that's what I've been starting up and working on now," he said. "I've been working on that for a while with Morgan Creek and Jim Robinson. I just got the greenlight from him and we're going in September. I've just started to prep that."

Fuqua added that he is hoping to find an unknown actor to portray the iconic hip-hop star, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996.

"That's the goal, I want to discover someone new," he explained. "I want to discover a lot of new people if I can. Obviously I'm going to have to put some people in it that you know, just because actors have different skills. I want to go to the streets and find him anywhere he might be in the world."

Commenting about the rumours of a reunion with his Tears Of The Sun star Bruce Willis on prison break drama The Tomb, the filmmaker said: "That's a conversation I've been having with Bruce."

Fuqua's latest film, cop thriller Brooklyn's Finest, can be seen in UK cinemas from June 9.

better no be anthony mackie as pac...

anyway, before "notorious" was made, i always thought they should make both biopics concurrently, where the scenes with both of them would overlap and the movies would work together.

This would never happen since both camps have different stories when it pertains to certain events (ie; when Biggies mom says that Pac told Biggie he was beefing to sell records).

But back to the original topic, I wont believe this movie will EVER come out until i see evidence of them actually making it. This will most likely get stuck in pre-production hell like the movie that Pac wrote and never be made.

^^Yep, they will probably have to remix this movie eventually.

Whoever acts as Tupac will have to face the wrath of the hugest critics on this planet: 2pac fans.

For some reason The Black guy from 40 yr old virgin reminds me a lot of Pac. I have always said Pac would have played that role well because Pac was good at comedy. I think he should play Pac. Romany Malco is his name. I have only seen him do Comedy but im sure he could do a serious part.
