Guns N Roses release 'Chinese Democracy' this year!!

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has responded to a US drinks company who challenged the band to release their eagerly anticipated album this year.

In a statement on the group's website, Rose said: "We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album Chinese Democracy."

The fizzy drinks firm has pledged to give everyone in the US a free can if the band releases the record.

The release date for the forthcoming album has continually been pushed back.

'Instant classic'

It was most recently scheduled for release in March 2007, but vanished from the schedule without a new date being set.

Dr Pepper's Jaxie Alt said "Axl's quest for perfection" was understandable.

The company said in an "unprecedented show of solidarity with Axl, everyone in America, except estranged guitarists Slash and Buckethead" would receive a free can of the drink.

Rose said: "As some of Buckethead's performances are on our album, I'll share my Dr Pepper with him".

It will be the first album of new material for the group since the 1991 records Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II.

Rose has reportedly spent $13 million (£6.47 million) getting Chinese Democracy ready.

Well yeah, various versions of the tracks have leaked over the years. It is a seriously fucking good album though. Especially the title track, the most recent leak was insanely sick.

Axl has a lot more than 13 million. He was the only one in GnR with business smarts, that's why he convinced the others to sign over the rights to the name very early on. Appetite and the Use Your Illusion discs sold shit loads of records and Axl made more than anyone else off of them, not to mention, since he owns the name, he gets a cut of all merchandise profits as well.

His voice is actually great now. It was shit a few years ago, but they did a big tour last year and it was very obvious that his voice had improved a lot.

that was the biggest mistake the band made, letting Axl get the rights to the name. but typical Axl, he held it over their heads like an asshole, telling them that he can replace any of them at any time he wanted. he's a dick and the record company will have to release this album (since you can't spend that much on one record and leave it sitting on the shelf) but i hope they don't ever expect to make a profit off of it, because it won't sell half of what the original Guns albums did. oh and Dr. Pepper sucks, why couldn't it be Coke or Sprite or something? lol.
