Era'z

#1
From the other thread I got a this little question about Tupac's Recording Era'z..
How many era's are there? And from which periods are the recordings of posthumous releases?
I thought it was something like this:
(correct me if I'm wrong)

Beginning Era < '90 (Lost tapes)
Digital Underground Era '90 (some D.U songs)
2pacalypse now Era '91
Troublesome Era '92 (which songs?)
(Loyal to the game in both these 2 i guess)
Strictly 4 my niggaz Era '93
(R U still down in both these 2)
Thug Life Era '94
Me Against the world Era '95
All Eyez On Me Era '96
Makaveli Era '96 (also Still I rise, UTEOT & B.D i think, but when?)
One Nation Era '96 (all One Nation recordings)
but there are more era's in '96 i guess

well im pretty certain it was recorded before the Makaveli album.....

there was a thread about this not too long ago (http://www.2pacboard.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137419&page=2&pp=15)

and this was the conclusion that was made (written by Hellrazor1978):

^^^yep. And not just August, but most likely LATE August, because I remember a few days before Pac got shot in Vegas that he talked to Nas and said he was gonna remove the disses to him from his album. And if the album was recorded in just 7 days, that would mean it would have to have been made late in the month, and most likely completed approximately 1 week (give or take a couple days) before September 7th. Im guessing the recording sessions for this album took place sometime between August 23rd and August 31st.....obviously this is just speculation but the time frame should be somewhere right around there.

the songs on DK7 were indeed some of the last songs that Pac recorded, if not the VERY LAST songs.

It sure was.

7 Day Theory was recorded at the end of August, 96'.....Pac was shot a week or two later. At the same time he was making the album, he was making Gang Related and wrapping up Gridlockd.

Do you think he physically had enough time to make two movies and be working on two music projects at the same time?? He was a work horse but theres no way this is possible, especially with the time frames that have been confirmed.

One Nation was BEFORE 7 Day Theory, probably completed sometime in July 96'. RIP Makaveli is on point.

it doesn't make much sense to try to break down "eras" according to album releases. thug life songs were used for the bulk of matw, for example, and pac's affiliation with digital underground lasted until he died, though it was a little different with him being a solo artist. some things weren't meant to be classified and put in a box. stick with pre and dr eras and call it a day.

^^ you're right, a lot of songs can't be classified to an era, but there are a lot of songs that are..
A song like Don't U trust me OG sounded more like a 2pacalypse now era/period song, but songs like Ghetto Gospel and a lot of appearence tracks are more apart recorded.

I just wanted to classified all the OG's and unreleased songs to an era and then later burn different cd's to a tupac-era..
In '96 he recorded so much songs though, that it's hard classify that to an era, it's more DR (all eyez on me, makaveli, one nation tracks & soundtrack material, i guess)

the Death Row era was by far his most prolific. He was only on there for a year, yet over half his songs were made during that time. But even then, you can tell his "earlier" Death Row stuff from his "later" Death Row material. The progression from AEOM to 7 Day Theory was something amazing.

half a year, to be precise
i think he also meanted to have more variety:
AEOM, the hits/ commercial album, then
Makaveli, a more deep album, and then
One nation, the underground album

2pac signed to death row on sept 16, 1995 (while in jail), was released october 12, 1995, and of course died september 13, 1996. technically a year, but only 11 months of freedom.
