Congrats Sandeep.

I honestly had no idea that taking a drivers test was THIS big of a deal. Maybe it is for foreigners? I dunno, everyone's talking about it like it was this huge thing, where you gotta study for hours and take a bunch of lessons and its nerve wrecking and shit. When I took mine, it was like 6 minutes actually being in the car. Got in, drove and did whatever the police officer told me to do and it was done, like a ten minute process----the entire thing.

The written test is a joke, takes like 20 mins, as long as you get like 16 outta 20 right (or whatever the amount of questions were), you were good to go. They print you a permit there and you can drive as long as someone above the age of 18 is there in the car with you. Unless you were 18+ then it didn't matter--you could drive alone. And that permit was valid for 2 years.

I was like really?? at the comments cuz it seems like everyone's making it to be a bigger deal than it is. Maybe cuz I'm in the states and its so common and everyone drives as soon as you hit 16 (waits for everyone to drop accident-related statistics) and that's that. I remember it being a big deal when we were sophomores in high school cuz it was cool we were about to et our license, but after that, not really.

Anyone one the same page as me?

Anyway, didn't mean to take away from the thread, congrats bro. Drive safely.

hey, its an active thread. Thats all that matters.

It's cool seeing everyone kind of grow up. (or not) on streethop.

As for women, i can see why they would make a big deal. They usually have their man drive them around anyway.

SiGh, in Europe, it is about 10x harder to pass the driving test and a lot more expensive. Registering a car costs a shitload too.

I know what you mean, though. Getting a license here is a complete joke.

Exactly. Take Germany for example:

Usually you have to take like 20-25 hours of driving-lessons (one hour = 45 minutes in this case). If youve done that and your driving coach says you are ready for the test you can take it. The actually test is about 30 minutes of driving (autobahn, city) and parking.

At the end of the day youve got to pay around 2000€.

Yup. USA and Canada are "new" countries. Y'all is built on the automobile, ol' Europe isn't.

Ah well, at least we can drink alcohol when we're 16.

the theory test over here consists of 50 questions now with the pass mark being a minimum of 42 correct answers.

and apparently, they are more harsh with marking you on the practical test. im just so glad, not to mention relieved that i have passed the test because it was quite expensive and i stopped taking lessons for almost a year but i started again and now its all out of the way.

over here i'm pretty sure that they are more strict with rules and road safety.

In Hollish land, the max is 5 wrong answers out of 50 on the theory test.

Sometimes fucking insane questions as well.

"What is the max. allowed length of a harmonica bus?"

I got that one on mine =/ Why I knew that was 18 (or 21) metres, I dunno, but wtf? Who gives a shit?

Duke, our theory test is much easier.

1) You are travelling on the motorway and are feeling tired. What should you do?
A - carry on but slow down
B - leave the motorway at the next exit
C - complete your journey as quickly as possible
D - stop on the hard shoulder

2) What does this sign mean?

A - Water across the road
B - Bridge over the road
C - Uneven road
D - Ford factory ahead

19) A learner driver you are following stalls at a junction. What should you do?
A - Shout instructions
B - Be patient and wait for them to move on
C - Steer around them and drive on
D - Sound your horn and flash your lights

There's also one's about braking distances, but overall it's pretty easy

lol yea, a lot of the asnwers from the theory book just made me laugh. i think it was very easy because a) you just elimate the silly answers and b) just select what you think is the safest option available - and you should be fine.

i only got 2 questions wrong on my theory test and i think hazard perception is quite easy anyway, you've just got be a bit alert and be able to constantly scan your screen for potential hazards.

I think "shout instructions" is a brilliant fucking answer. It's definitely the best answer too. You're helping reduce congestion!

But like Sandeep said, if you're faced with questions like that, it's a simple matter of elimination.

Actually, on hazard perception, during my driving lessons I had a close call where I pulled into the "fast" lane and didn't notice the car in my blindspot.

Consequence? I always throw a glance over my shoulder now, lol.

Shit helps.
