Do you fit your books cover?

What would someone classify you as?

Is it true?

The reason why I ask is because I read this quote from 50 cent to Jay-z.

"You can’t be gangster Jay from Marcy and be the good guy Jay-Z on Oprah. You just can’t. They don’t let you in."

Why can't someone be both (in the eyes of people)?

Honestly, I either get classified as the smart guy, the loud guy, or the quiet guy.

Why cant I be all of those? b/c I feel as if I am.

Why cant Jay-z be a gangster and a good guy?

'Pac was both, right? (assuming gangster is the definition of a tough guy, not necessarily a murderer).

People with complex personalities are not properly classified by others at all. It's easier if you're outgoing. If you're not most people will not get to know you.

I don't even know me but various people have extremely different opinions of me varying on from which side they do know me.
For example 2 girls I know say that they like me but I'm an insensitive asshole while some of my closest friends told me that I'm the kindest person they know.
Some others think that I'm quiet (mixing it with shy and not confident) while others know me from my more outgoing and probably charismatic side.
I wouldn't be able to describe myself because my actions usually depend on the situation. I can be anything really.
I know what I'm not but still some new people might say that I am like that.

I was thinking of posting something similar to this, as How do you think people describe you to other people?

I was wondering cos I was talking to someone and started talking about a guy we both have worked with in the past (dude has a lazy eye), she couldnt remember his name so to get me to figure out who she was talking about she said, "The guy who has one eye looking at you, and the other eye looking for you"

I immediatley got who she meant, but in the back of my mind was thinking damn, thats a fucked up thing to say. And later I got to thinking, well how does she describe me to other people, got me all paranoid and shit lol

I think what 50 Cent is trying to say is that you can take a guy out the hood but you can't take the hood out the guy and since Jay is showing that "it's possible" he wasn't "hood" in the first place.

We are different things to different people. I think Biggie said that if you asked 10 people about Tupac, you'd get 10 different answers. That's true for everyone. We expose different sides of us to different people (perhaps unintentionally perhaps not) and different people perceive those actions differently. Most people who I classify as arrogant and talking out of their ass are people who some of my friends would classify as "cool" and "great to hang out with", just to give an example.

I don't agree with this concept. Jay's been balling since '96 when Reasonable Doubt dropped. He kicks it with millionaires in tropical places. He's been the head of one of the biggest record labels in the world.

Does 50 still want him to act like he's in the fucking projects? You hold on to that shit just for the sake of credibility and you're an idiot and there's no way you'll get the opportunities that Jay has had.

It's his past, not his present.

I agree too and in no way was I agreeing with 50 cent's views. In the end, I might have interpreted it wrong anyway.

Like someone else said, were different people to different people.

People from highschool know me as partier

People from University know me as one of the smart people

Two girls I know see me as an insensitive ass.

Other people from highschool know me as a druggie and alcoholic.

Some people see me as quiet, others as outgoing.

To be honest, I don't know me but I think I'm all these things at certain times.

I think it's amazing how different people are on the internet from their real life selves.
There are many people who are total idiots on the net while being quiet and rather on the smart side in real life (great examples on this board probably). It also happens the other way around.

It's also impossible not to misjudge people on the net. It's silly but most of us have an opinion based on a few posts and maybe username/avatar/pics.

I think, if you're simple enough to fit into one "category" then you're too simple to give a fuck that you're in a category.

Smart guy, loud guy, funny guy, popular guy, jock, crybaby, etc. etc. are not personalities, they are simply traits that build a personality. Nobody should care about what they're labeled, this isn't middle school.

I consider myself a fairly smart person, but I suck at math. Does that mean I can't be considered a smart guy? No way. I'm good at basketball, football and baseball.. but I don't know anything about soccer and I would be lost in the game, same with golf, tennis, hockey, and so on. Does this mean I can't be considered as a good sports player? See where I'm going with this..

I'm loud and arrogant with some people, quiet and timid in other situations. There are people who care too much about the cover, and too little about the book...these people are called children. At the end of the day, I'm just happy being who I am and being able to live with that.

I am a loud and obnoxious idiot in reality.
