Last week, i was driving down a street when a truck was coming against me. At a certain point, there are cars parked on both sides of the street. This is normal and usually one person waits before they come to this point to let the other car pass. Usually the car thats further away waits if you understand what i mean. So im coming up to this section of the street as this truck is coming towards me. I keep going because he is further back on his side so i assume he'll wait as im passing through.Unfortunately the ignorant bastard doesnt and keeps driving through. So im forced to pull into a little space between a parked car and another car that had just pulled in before i pass to park up.So i pull in to allow the truck to pass. no problem. But the guy who is parking up his car reverses and scrapes the side of my car above the back wheel. He never looked in his mirrors so didnt see that i had pulled a small bit into that space to let the truck pass.
He apologises and askes me what i want to do about it. Its dark, but i can see a few scratches on the car. Im not well up on cars and repair cost so i just assume that it wont cost too much to repair and i tell him that it should be ok.The car is a couple of years old but there are hardly any marks on it before this. He just tells me where he lives and to call into him if theres a problem. Now, when i look at the car in the daylight, the scratches are pretty bad. Part of one of them seems to have gone through to the metal. There is also a small dent. If i go get it repaired, it will cost a nice bit i reckon but im reluctant to go back to the guy who reversed into me after i told him it was alright.
what would you do in this situation?
