Clothes

I know that we used to have plenty of those threads but since new threads are scarce and I think a lot has changed, we've all grown up I'm curious - where do you get your clothes, guys? What are your places for casual clothes and formal wear? What kind of clothes do you dig these days?

I have to say that I can't find one store where I could safely buy clothes so every single thing I have seems to be from a different place. For some weird reason I usually buy jeans from Timberland though.
I'm feeling a need to mature up my style and I want to pick up a thing or two from other people with a fashion sense :p

I bought a pair of pants from American Eagle, they opened up their first store in the area and while some of their stuff looks ok their pants are of shitty quality.

I buy my clothes from Harvey Nicks.

I wear brands such as Prada, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Maharishi. But I also wear vintage T-Shirts and have found myself wearing Levi jeans a lot recently.

For footwear I wear white air force one classics (although less often these days) Or Vans and Converse canvas shoes. I only ever wear Prada shoes, and sometimes their trainers. I was going to buy some LV trainers but ended up picking up some adidas originals.

I wear all sorts of clothes. But I don't dress like Eminem or any rappers, never have. I quite often wear hoodies. But again, they are usually Maharishi or Iceberg.

I was never really into clothes until I actually went shopping on my own. My mom bought my clothes until high school, then in high school I would go with my mom but choose them, but halfway through college I was able to go on my own. I think it was because I felt weird walking around JCPenney or Kohls alone, but after a while I stopped giving a fuck.

Fast forward to today and it's a different story. While I'm still a tubby, I realized that clothes shopping can be more fun when you have more variety to choose from, which means not buying XL and XXLs. Well, XLs are fine; I'll just say I'm tall too. But when I go to nicer stores like Ralph Lauren and even stores for athletic stuff (like the Under Armour, Nike Store, etc.) I definitely walk out with short-lived motivation to lose some weight and move down a size.

I don't shop at the upscale stores; I see a lot of people 25+ that go to store like Banana Republic or Express or some shit. I don't know if I could do that. I don't have that much love for clothes and I think those are for people that are more fashion-conscious.

I guess being a fatty, the clothes fitting is a big enough reward. :(

I expected Pittsey to be first in this thread, and it's very good.

Coonie, I think the last time I seriously went shopping was 2 or 3 years ago. Since then I would just buy a couple of shirts once in a few months and whatever I'd come across on my way to get them. Now I decided to step my game up again. I like wearing clothes that I know are good, I should do that more often.

Coincidentally yesterday I decided to go for classic Levi's and was stuck between 501s and 506s. I chose 506s because of slightly baggier cut (but not too baggy) but they had every single size except of mine. I bought a pair of Wrangler jeans instead - they're a little narrower down the leg but look better than any of my previous jeans (from Timberland). I'm going to buy those 506s on Wednesday though.
It's a bit silly but I discovered 501s and 506s yesterday and I was kind of amazed - they are the most classic models so they were always below my radar and it turns out it's hard to find something that looks so well with almost anything. When a redneck wears them he looks harcore kkk, when a rapper wears them he looks cool. Just pull them a little higher and you instantly look ridiculous, sag them just a little lower and you're awesome again. I'm sure I could make a chick wear them and she'd look good in them. And at first they look like the most casual jeans ever made.

I need a new winter coat and most of all a jacket for spring/fall, my first choice was Timberland again but I'm going to look for something more classy now.

Yeah, I always thought I wasn't vain enough to let the clothes determine me or anything like that. But recently I've realized you can't rock an Under Armour sweatshirt and sweatpants everywhere. And dressing up in good clothes, preferably brand-spanking new ones, always boosts your spirit and confidence, no matter your size. Of course, it's best to look as sophisticated and polished as your clothes, but the clothes alone can help bring out the best in your behavior.

Fit is more important than brand. I get all my suits fitted at Saville Row. (Baller..!) Lots of directors at work are wearing suits a size or 2 too large. Who looks better? Yes, sir. Me.

My dad was all about Marks and Debenhams when he was in England. He went about a month ago and went crazy buying shirts and ties and stuff from there. In the States, he's all about Nordstrom, Armani, etc. In England, it's all about Marks. I just remember having Debenhams bags in our house at some point when I was younger.

Maybe when I make my own money I can justify and feel comfortable spending that much on clothes, but until then, the most expensive thing I have bought within the past three years, other than a suit, was a $70 hoodie (yes, the Under Armour one). It's tied with the Jordan Retro v.1s I bought.

I never buy my clothes in Marks & Spencers. I don't buy clothes from the high street...! I am a bit of a snob. But I do buy some of my food from Marks, that which I don't get from a farm shop. I like to pretend that I am middle class.
