I have a theory. I could be wrong. But here's what it sounds like to me. And I'll repost this in the actual thread too lol, but here's what I think the deal is.

1. It's pretty much known at this point that Google is gonna release a full social network Facebook rival site which may be called "Google Me".
2. Google realized how fucking sick it would be if Wave was integrated into this. Imagine seeing people responding to your statuses, uploads, etc, in real time? And other people's statuses on your feed? It'd be like an ever-buzzing alive platform.
3. Google realizes that if they open-sourced the Wave platform (which they said they would when they launched it) - Facebook could just duplicate this functionality.
4. Google shuts down Wave to avoid having to renege on their promise to open-source it, integrates it into Google Me, and BAM! Google Me > Facebook.

Anyway...regarding the iPad. It's my cousins and we were using it as a TomTom (the world's biggest TomTom lol). But the stupid piece of shit kept rebooting so I was trying to figure out what was wrong with it, whilst retyping in the route every time it rebooted so we knew where the fuck we were going.

You guys know I'm holding out for the DroidPad personally :)

Same. Even before you converted me. Who wants a tablet that can't handle flash?

I am getting work to purchase a tablet for me. Waiting for the first android tablet. I kind of need it, now.

I mean, there's Android tablets available.... but they mostly seem to be from lesser-known manufacturers who have just put Android on their hardware because they're free to do so.

When the proper Android tablets start launching, ie the ones that Google themselves have closely worked on (like the Motorola one that's supposed to be out later this year, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab), there'll be some serious stuff available.

Video here of the Galaxy Tab - looks pretty cool to me

The only other decent one that's out right now is the Dell Streak - but only the 5" version is out right now. They are planning to release 7" and 10" models soon though.

I do hang out with some New Zealanders fairly regularly. Maybe I picked it up from them. LOL.

I saw that and LOL'd. And what Pittsey said about a tablet that cant handle Flash. I was thinking about how many portable devices dont support full flash, albeit any flash at all, and this annoys me, because flash is on its way out, HTML5 will make flash pointless when all that can be coded directly into a site.

The portable device world needs to catch the fuck up to what PC's have been doing for years.

Well.... Upon closing it they said they would release it as Open Source now so people can continue to use it and expand it but just Google themselves would stop development of it. So that kind of goes against your theory...
