California Judge Issues Warrant for Jackson's Arrest

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Reuters) - The judge in Michael Jackson's child molestation case issued a warrant for the entertainer's arrest after Jackson failed to show up for his trial on Thursday, the day his young accuser was set to continue his testimony.

Jackson's attorney explained that the 46-year-old entertainer was in the hospital with a back problem. The judge rejected that explanation, ordering that Jackson's bail be revoked and the entertainer jailed if he did not appear within an hour.

Jackson's 15-year-old accuser was to have begun his second day on the witness stand on Thursday morning.

Jackson is accused of sexually molesting the boy, a cancer survivor, and plying him with alcohol at the entertainer's Neverland Valley Ranch in 2003.

The pop star, who has pleaded innocent, is also charged with conspiring to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion. He could face more than 20 years in prison if convicted on all 10 criminal counts.

Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville said he would stay Jackson's arrest warrant for one hour to give him time to show up in court.

Melville, who began the court session promptly at 8:30 a.m., noticed immediately that Jackson was not seated at the defense table. At the time, Jackson's lawyer, Tom Mesereau, was talking on his cell phone.

"I notice the defendant is not here," Melville said.

Mesereau answered that Jackson had been taken to a hospital with "a serious back problem," adding, "It's my understanding that he's on his way in."

But Melville rejected that explanation.

"I'm issuing a warrant for his arrest and forfeiting his bail," Melville said, speaking over a bid by Mesereau to speak on Jackson's behalf. "I'll hold the warrant for one hour to give him time to be in court. After that, I'll issue the warrant."

The judge then announced that the court was in recess and walked off the bench.

MJ is guilty,man...You have to admit it...It's not about that white/black shit,it's about pedophilia. It's really serious. They have solid proofs.Michael has commited a lot of mistakes and now it's time for him to pay...I hate to say it but that's the truth.
He had no childhood,he was beaten by his father maybe raped, his brothers had sex with girls while he was in the same room when he was a young kid...that's fuck'd up!That's normal to become mentaly insane after that...
If he had to go to jail,I think that he won't survive...
There is no way out.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (AP) — A pajama-clad Michael Jackson arrived more than an hour late to his child molestation trial Thursday, but the judge who had threatened to arrest him resumed the case without taking any action against the singer in open court.

The singer’s young accuser returned to the stand for a second day, saying Jackson gave him wine and called it “Jesus juice.”
haha, jesus juice

False. The judge did not issue a warrant, so that's already BS. Michael Jackson left the courtroom free and clear. How on Earth could he have left if there was a warrant? The article should point out that the judge threatened to issue a warrant, and revoke bail.He fell at some point and had to go to the hospital. What a shocker. Why are people acting like they've never fallen on the floor before?

I am more than willing to admit that he's a pedophile, if there's evidence to prove it. I have seen no such evidence ever, and I bet I spend more time on this case than a lot of people.

Its funny Michael Jackson remains the King of Pop while he's going through all this, and his pockets are still full of cash. The haters must love this.

hes gonna be in custody for the rest of the trial..lol imagine michael jackson in jail...i couldnt evn picture the poor guy on the PC range. his lawyers can try for another bail later on but i doubt he'll get it since he just breeched it.. breach of bail is usually a charge of fail to comply or whatever is he getting charged for that?

I've had the flu this year, but I didn't go to a hospital. However, there are many people that go to the hospital for the flu. People falling and and stuff like that happens all the time, and a lot of people go to the hospital. Because Michael Jackson is famous, it does not mean that he cannot fall and injure himself.
