Burning Eyes

I'm wondering if I should see a doctor for this or not. I'm thinking it's not that serious but some people at work think it's strange.

Whenever I get less than, say 6-7 hours of sleep in a given night, my eyes burn for hours the next day...usually until the early afternoon.

I have to work at 7am about 3-4 days a week and I am not, by any means, a morning person at all. I'll often stay up til 12 or 1 and then get up at 6.

Is this really weird?

Do you work with computers a lot? My eyes also burn when I don't sleep for enough time, I think that's because they get dry.

Sounds like eye strain to me. I get it alot because i work on a computer all day. its worse if i am tired as well. its one thing i dislike about my job.

Yeah, could be eye strain from looking at a computer screen too much combined with little sleep. Treatment: Get more sleep and stop looking at computer screens so much. How to make it worse: keep going to sleep late and looking at computer screens too much.

Could also be caused by exposure to a toxin at work. You'll have to look into that if more sleep doesn't help.

Do you have a lcd screen or a classic crt monitor?
If it's a crt switch it to lcd. If it's lcd changing a display to a better one might help. Also change (lower) brightness. Many people from my school had similar symptoms from working on wack screens but changing settings helped a bit.

I have the same problem, my eyes are always burning... maybe its all the smoke always in the air around here

I wouldn't say its too serious. Get some visine or something and clear that burn up.

Or you could possibly have herpes of the eye.

myabe it's the side effect of not eating and late night browsing of SH while drunk.

I assume the fix for all of this is to get exercise. You'll sweat off any mild depression you may have for one, and you'll be hungry after using up your energy. By the time you're done throwing away your paper plate in the trash, you'll be ready for your 10 hour sleep.

thats normal..it happens to me too when i don't get enough sleep. it means you should go back to bed... or at least get more sleep at night..

EDIT: nvm i just read the part where it says your eyes burn for hours a day...i don't think thats normal and NO it doesn't happen to me...go see a doctor man.

it happens to me too, especially when its bright outside. it kills my eyes. they will water, hurt, and burn forever. i didnt know if it was allergies or what. but it always happened after late nights on xbox live or on the computer. whatever involves staring at a screen and not sleeping.

i get burning some times, but some times i even get a tingling sensation inside my eyes, similar to when you're about to sneeze. it started happening after i worked late shifts at a gas station. i used something really strong to clean off the grill and you were supposed to wear protective glasses, but i didn't. i'm thinking the shit vaporized and got into my eyes.
