"Will we cry when the Pope dies? My request, is that we cry if they cried when we buried Malcolm X"

Maybe a dumb thread, but what do y'all think of this line in relation of the Pope dying? :)

I think its stupid, simply becuz not every white person actually hated malcom x, there are people on this board, white people that have malcom on there lists of favourite and influential people, the pope has raised awareness for black people and Africa(The Motherland)it was like the place he visited the most.

Malcom is one of my heros and in my opinion should be talked about more in schools but to say that the pope shouldnt be mourned is bullshit, the man is a Great Person, i aint religious but i cant deny the good things he has done.

The line isn't saying that we shouldn't mourn for the pope. Its saying we should cry just like we did for malcolm x for the pope. Because if you think about it they both helped people alot.

well u gotta remember pope was more of a face ,world, political type, higest religious leader over in Rome
and then with malcolm over here, who he was.

i dont look at it as like, ok they didnt cry when this Black guy died so when this White guy dies,..

even if you try to look at what he did for Africa(visitin it the most than any other continent), its not the same impact as a malcolm x, and especially here (in america).

both did great. silleone i think the point was, malcolm isnt a revered type formal figure like a comparrison to MLK would be, even though all of which malcolm and plenty more did.

it's different level type shit with malcolm and the pope i would think

but it doesnt bother me pac sayin it, and make sure to see the context in which it was said...

true, i agree with the fact that Malcom should be more talked about, i even said they should teach more about him in schools(i didnt even know who he was until i watched the movie and did some research)

but the fact is saying you shouldnt feel sad for the pope just becuz white people wernt sad when malcom died is a stupid, if we lived in this mindstate the world would be fucked up.

Malcom X - Great Man
The Pope - Great Man

thats how i see it.

malcolm X was hated by the white people of his generation. Nowadays attitudes have chagned!
That's the truth. He wasn't accepted then - by almost all whites & some blacks - & even today there are many who don't see any good in him.

You're just like those white people that didnt care when blacks died.
you are sick human being , to even compare me not showing the pope respect to people not caring about the biggest tragedy in earth

sick

and just because the pope saves a couple of kids in hopes of spreading his religion doesnt make him a great and amazing man, it just makes him a great manipulator, hes just like bill gates who sure gives all kinds of to aids charities and shit but why? so his computers can then be used in schools and communitys where he donated

I dont see any logic in it. Pac is wrong plain and simple. He is comparing the Pope to Malcom X, as in, Malcom is a leader of black people, and the Pope is a leader of white people. That is not the case. the Pope was a leader of all people, any color and race. He did a lot, a LOT for Latin America and Africa, he visited Africa more than any other place.

Your post was edited in the other thread because it was off topic and disrespectful to those people in that thread. You can post your opinion all you like, but that wasnt the time and place for it. And actually, if you couldnt understand that, dont post your opinion because I question your intellect and reason.

i think its a very powerful line, as mentioned before, malcolm x was viewed as a threat by white people in his time..
Fair enough, but the Pope isnt and wasnt viewed as a threat by black people, so comparing the two was irrelevent. Like I said, Pac wrongly understood it as Malcom = leader for blacks, Pope = leader for whites.

Not to mention promoting racial animosity is just wrong. Yes people, even Tupac made mistakes.
