Blasphemy Chorus

#21
I always thought the song was about Pac comparing his life with the life of people in the bible hence he was speaking blasphemy. Pac was comparing Jesus being resurrected with him getting shot in '94 and coming back. Moses splitting the red sea and Pac splitting the blunt daily. God killing Pharoah's first born and Pac gunning for his enemies and their kids. Mary and Joseph leaving Nazareth to Bethlehem and Pac and his Mom leaving the burbs for the ghetto. So when he's saying in the chorus "Remember what my pops told me", I think he's comparing what his "father" taught him to what God taught Moses or Abraham or Jesus. Just a theory.

Yeah, I think this is actually quite a good interpretation.

a couple of quotes i'd like for y'all to examine!

"Tell me I ain't God's son, nigga momma a virgin"

What do y'all think Pac means by this??? Is he referring to Preachers or any church goers calling Ghetto children unworthy to be God's children? what about the Momma's a virgin part?

"We probably in Hell already, our dumb asses not knowin
Everybody kissin ass to go to heaven ain't goin
Put my soul on it"

One of my fave Pac quotes ever. what do y'all think about it? and what do you think it means?

I think he means everybody is a child of God. Who he refers to I don't know.
But that's why he says "momma a virgin". Jesus mom was a virgin and he was God's son.

Could another person please respond to RENE's "Tell me I ain't God's son, nigga momma a virgin"...would luv to hear interpretations of that...As for

"We probably in Hell already, our dumb asses not knowin
Everybody kissin ass to go to heaven ain't goin
Put my soul on it"

I think he might be saying something like the might not be no heaven for us, cause it feels like we are in hell already "Everybody kissin ass to go to heaven ain't goin" = we praying and going to church to go to heavan when infact we might be in hell already.

Peace/love

One way to interpret it also would be since his real father was never there it was almost as if she became pregnant on her own. Virgin birth.

I think heaven and hell is on earth and there people talking good shit and thinks he come to heaven, so i think he refers to people from the ghetto (hell on earth) talking good shit like its all good .

ok, so you want to be a dick huh? let almighty dante break it down for you line by line since english doesn't seem to be a strong suit...

We probably in Hell already, our dumb asses not knowin
the world and our reality is actually hell, and just like the matrix, we don't even relalize
Everybody kissin ass to go to heaven ain't goin
being that we're already in hell, taking strides to go to heaven is futile

wow, rene, that was rocket science.

now go get your shinebox.

i fail to see how you can type in english and not understand lines that don't mean anything more than what the obvious syntax does.

well are you saying every 2Pac lyric is just straight forward with no other meaning or metaphors? Alot of people in this thread even said that parts in this song seem to have more than one meaning.

oh come on... i hope that you are able to discern the difference between literal and figurative devices in lyrics. if you're not, then one should question why you're even listening at all...

"we're probably inhell already..."
this line is face value and requires a minute amount of imagination from the listener. there is no meaning between the lines.
"mama a virgin..."
obviously this is not possible in the traditional sense, and a cursory knowledge of religion would show that pac is not being literal.

rene, like i said, it's not rocket science. 2pac isn't giving the secret to alchemy, he's using creative devices in his lyrics to convey meaning instead of bashing you over the head with the obvious. any good author or lyricist does this.
