An inevitable consequence isn't necessarily a reason or purpose.

When I eat, afterwards I'm going to shit. That's the consequence of my eating, not the reason or the purpose.

Because its the only logic that has any validation. Nothing in "life" is a certainty, just a choice, the only thing we can't choose and is a certainty is death. It may not sound fun, but there is no proof that there is any other reason to be alive, just opinions.

Dunno why you started talking about the afterlife though, unrelated to my philosophy.
Your philosophy is morbid.

No wonder you posted suicide notes back in the day. :D

A consequence is the result of an action, "life" isn't an action.

Lol, i can't believe you remember that shit. Yes I realise it sounds morbid.

No I'm not advocating selective use, but clearly it would be more benefit for some people to be able to utilize this technology than the others.

It's all well and good to try and be diplomatic and against selective use, but if you had to choose one person to benefit from this, would you choose someone like Einstein or the drunken homeless bum on the corner?
I think anyone should have equal opportunity for this like anything else in life. Education, career choice, etc. How is it fair one guy can be eternal because he is successful and got some luck to help him while another who can be as smart ended up homeless due to some sequence of events?

Also we all know it's only the rich and famous that will profit from this. It's ALWAYS like that.
Interesting.

In regards to the selective use idea... well... the few people who use their brains are outnumbered by idiots in mass. Would it really hurt to cheat and keep some of the few smart folks alive a little longer? lol
Why? I'm sure these people didn't want to be eternal. There's just so much you can do before you get bored with your own life.

I think being eternal defies the purpose of living. You are born, you live, you die. That's the cycle of life. It's the natural order of things. Yes we do have surgery and what not to enhance our quality of life and extend our lifetime but we all know in the long run we will die. And it's okay. I don't want to be eternal. Fuck that.

Here we go again. "Natural order." It's unnatural. It "defies the purpose of living." Which is to die. Most people just can't think outside of the box they're in. Even when someone who can does the thinking for them, they learn nothing.

And the word is not "eternal;" it's "immortal." Big difference.

Of course, what else would he have on his mind? Big pikkies?

Enorme, kloppende snikkels.

I'd rather say the purpose of life is life. Existing.
When you make death the purpose of life, the purpose of life is to...not exist? Cease to exist?

Getting mighty semantical, though.

Do you seriously think that everyone has equal opportunity in this life? SERIOUSLY?

So the kids on the streets in India and Africa, have the same education and career choice opportunities that you do? The children and adults alike who flee warzones have the same opportunities you have? The children in the developed world who grew up with drug addicted parents in broken homes have the same opportunities you do?

There are no, and never HAVE been any equal opportunities in this life for anything. So why oppose a new technology, that like everything else, won't be "fair"?

People die everyday all over the world that could easily be saved with the right amount of money and the right amount of care. How is this any different?

How is it fair one guy can be eternal because he is successful and got some luck to help him while another who can be as smart ended up homeless due to some sequence of events?
How is it fair that people who are fortunate enough to live in the developed world and make a decent living can afford to get medical care that saves their lives, when others who might just be as smart end up homeless and die due to some sequence of events? There's NO difference.

Perhaps think about what you are saying, and gain a little perspective before you post.

Also we all know it's only the rich and famous that will profit from this. It's ALWAYS like that.
If it's ALWAYS like that, what the fuck are you complaining about? Like I said - NO difference between a rich person being able to afford life-extending operations (and ultimately immortality) and a rich person being able to afford life saving hospital treatment in the current state of the world.
