Bible Thumpers

I was with S O F I until you said

not when they came from a family that had christenings and weddings etc
In that case it's a good argument. Just the whole comment about "because people with money and class like to get married in churches" is pretty lame. Wanting to get married in a church has nothing to do with "class". There are plenty of alternatives and some people prefer natural beauty over man-made so they have an outdoors wedding. And commenting on someone's status and how well off they are... really? :S

This kind of argument can't be won by trying to justify God. People who diss bible thumpers have no respect for religion or religious ideals. So the next best thing would be to diss them through societies religious ideals.

Religion is a big foundation of society, probably the biggest. That is why there is a church in every villiage, in every town. Religion plays a big part in societies traditions, even if it just in the background. The Bible underlines the Ethics and Morals of a society. Someone dissing bible bashers are automatically morally corupt.

I don't know any bible thumpers...but I have a friend that is Atheist and he annoys the hell out of me sometimes. If I tell him "Happy Birthday, Happy Thanksgiving, Happy New Year etc etc etc" he says "I don't celebrate that"
It looks like this guy has no idea what an atheist even is.

LMAO! You're joking right?

Admitting to owning a Bible and having a cross tattoed is not being a Bible thumper.

Wtf does god have to do with the 4th of July??? He has Atheist tattooed on his arm.
......wtf

He needs to look up the definition of atheist.

I guess there are extremes on each side.

God was created for the poor back in the day to keep them quiet. Still works.

Ever heard of "God has a plan" or "You're going through hardships because God is putting you through trials you have to endure to get into heaven, the place that is so great and wonderful for all eternity."

Good fucking luck, is all i gotta say.

I can probably draw a connection between anything and anything else. So here goes for this:

We celebrate the 4th of July because of the adoption by Congress of the Declaration of Independence, which states that our right to revolt came from the "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God," and that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”

The Declaration has its roots in the laws of God, even though Jefferson had his own quirkly beliefs in that regard. So your tattooed friend understands the meaning of atheism much better than most atheists. (Probably not; but in his ignorance he just happened to actually be making a good point.)

Most atheists don’t have a problem with celebrations that have their basis in Ye Old Time religion, but there are some who are extreme and want to make a point. They not only don’t believe, which is a personal thing, but also hate religion and anything to do with it, and would like to see it abolished. Your friend seems to be one of those and it is a legitimate position.

my first cousin is like this, bad. he would read my myspace comments and stuff and be like "i see what you've been up to.. partying, drinking, come to church with me on sunday"

and i always had to tell him i was busy. i believe and all, but when someone tries to shove it down your throat, it just aggravates you instead of motivates you

Are you kidding me? The 4th of July/Independance Day is a celebration of the day the British stopped kicking your asses and went home. Also a declaration isnt a legal fucking document, its a fucking announcement that they went home.

They really teach you some bullshit about American history. Seriously, I can't find one thing in American history that is actually true. Like WWII, they tell you that you won, you didnt win jack, the Nazi's kick your asses just as they did with the British. The only army to defeat the Nazis were the Russian. The war was never "won" because Hitler shot himself in the head. You didnt even win the fight with Japan, who kicked your asses, you just took the easy route and dropped a nuke on them.

God this shit makes me so fucking ashamed of my American roots.

Sorry if I offended everyone, but its about time America wakes up to the fact that America is the joke of the world because you live in some government controlled dream world.
