I always listen to the first 4 tracks on the 2nd cd first. Man, does Pac put it down. I just close my eyes and listen, lyrically he touches his fans more then anyone other rapper. The 2nd disc starts off great, but falls off in the middle, but it finishes off good.
The 1st disc sounds more like his westcoast ridin days. I dont know why no one likes Thug Mansion(ft Nas), its a heartwarming song, Nas pays homage to his recently deceased mother, its deep. Who cares about he and Pac's beef. Its irrevelant.
Oh yea, I think they did a terrible job on Never Be Peace, the original was classic.

i suppose letting jay-z completely destroy the meaning of me and my girlfriend or letting ja rule cover pain with no credit to stretch whatsoever is irrelevant too...
simple fact is that it would have been VERY unlikely for pac and nas/jay to collaborate, and so putting them on his music after his death adds insult to injury. i won't even get into the problem that nas is the most trying-his-ass-off-to-be-deep rapper around right now.
where does it end? is there a puffy remix for my own style down the road?

... we will all bow down to you high and mighty one ... diaz, i agree ..the choruses on uteot did suck . so many songs had females singers ...you heard some classic rhymes then they it went str8 to rl or other singers ...the watering down definitely suckedI mean come, Its still crazy that Pan fanatics still hate all of his enemies like they personally offended you. I'm a Hip-Hop Lover first, I study this shit, I write about this shit, I live this shit. When it comes to artists that truly put it down from the heart and not just for the fortune and fame, I truly appreciate. I don't care who Pac had beef with, they not my enemies. If I don't like an artist its because they are on some bullshit.
And when it comes to Nas, we all know that his first album (Illmatic) was critically acclaimed and it deserved to be. After that he got a big head and started to try to hard. Ok, so he overstepped his boundaries (It was Written) and Pac had to put him in his place (Against All Odds). Fine, after all that he put out a couple lackluster albums (Nastradmus, occhie wally). But that was years ago, Nas has matured a lot since then. He earned the crown back during the Jay-Z beef. No one though Nas would respond the way he did (Ether). He followed that up with some classic albums (Stillmatic, God's Son, Lost Tapes, etc). His latest album was ok, if it was a single album and not a double it would have been tight. We all know that most Rap double albums lack consistency and balance.
When it comes to Jay-Z, he shouldnt have messed up Pac's classic metaphoric joint (me and my girlfriend). Which by the way came from Nas's song "I Gave You Power". Pac was a fan of the song and a fan of Nas in the beginning. He said 'no offense the Nas, but the whole fuckin world is mine" in "Untouchable". This line isnt a diss. Pac gave props to many artists in the game (Representin 93, Old school, in many interviews), Pac was a student of HipHop he loved many rappers, thats why when he dissed some people he sounded so angry b/c he so much love for them as artists (nas, mobb deep, LL cool j, etc).
Goin back 2 me and my girlfriend, at least he gave homage to Pac in the video. Ja gave homage to Pac and Stretch both in the song and in the cd booklet. Both of their names are in the credits. Maybe u meant he should have kept Stretch's vocals on the track???
Overall, its not like these artists stole these songs and remade them on mixtapes, they had to get the rights to use these songs from Afeni and Amaru. She had the final say. in a way they are givin props to Pac, they are showin their appreciation to him as a legend. Artists across all genres of music do this (from the Beatles, to marvin gaye, to stevie wonder). Oh, yea, Jay-Z wasnt the only one to cover me and my girlfriend, mariah carey did it first on her rainbow album (1999) and toni braxton did it in 2002.

i have been listening to hip hop since it began, so please don't lump me in with the pac fans who blindly hate his enemies.
that being said, ja rule gave shouts to pac and stretch, but look in the liner notes - no sign of stretch whatsoever. jay showing pac tribute in his video via a mural is nice and all, but are we forgetting that jay was using the lyrics literally instead of as a metaphoric device? jay and nas both had published diss records to pac, and i just find it silly that they act like huge fans when he's not here...
when it comes down to it, nas is over. after he switched up into esco he lost his creativity and now every damn song is another i wish type piece of shit. yeah he's trying to be deep, but real artists who are deep don't have to try. anyway, i won't get into nasal because this is a pac forum, not a hip hop general chat, but rest assured, nas and pac never squashed shit. maybe the foundation was built for that with nas bowing down (then again pac was rolling deep and nas was essentially alone).
