Currently a huge issue in America no?

I am watching Dr. Phil, and they are having a huge debate on baggy pants, evan the Ying Yang Twins are on the show.

So, basically some people want laws to enforce dress codes to make sure everyone is presentable according to "their" standards.

How will police even enforce this? How baggy is too baggy? Will the police measure the amount of bagginess? What if some people just don't like tight pants? Is baggy pants fashionable? (looking at rukas)

discuss.

I personally belive people should be able to dress however they like.

If it's baggy to the point it looks like you crapped your damn pants it's a problem.

I don't wear baggy jeans though, I usually wear fitted jeans; Guess, Buffalo, etc.

*based on european standards*
I was a wigger if it comes to pants but now I see how dumb it looks.
Sure some teeny girls love it but damn..

I mean I wear a bit baggy pants still but wearing TOO baggy jeans is stupid. I went through it and I know how dumb it is for casual people.

that kind of "baggy" jeans looks good imo:

this is the line you shouldn't cross:

this is too much:

and this is the gayest version of "baggy pant wearers":

it's more terrible than the baggiest jeans.

I think they don't want your underwear showing. Personally I think it's a stupid law and people can do as they please. I don't wear fitted jeans or baggy. They are really in between. Also, you should re-think your life if you watch DR. Phil.

If it's not already in effect, then here in Detroit, they're trying to give people (basically young black men) tickets for $500 if they catch you sagging your pants.

girls could walk around in a bikini bra and thong, but some boxer shorts deserve to be banned?

It's prejudice against the culture that the pants are associated with.

Some legislation was introduced in various places and failed. It would never stand up in any sensible courtroom anyway. It's really a non-issue.

...and how is baggy pants a culture? I don't recall Run DMC wearing pants that hang half across your ass, or Public Enemy looking like they crapped their pants.
Keep in mind where baggy pants stem from; prisons which issued sizes way too large for inmates.

Yeah and tiny pants represent the gay culture, jeans are part of the cowboy culture, and super tight shorts are for cyclists from the Tour de France.

there's a million stories about how they were invented, it's not really important. during the 90s, sagging became a trend in da geto lawl, the place from which pretty much every respected hiphop-artist in today's hiphop world came from. sagging and hiphop do not really have anything to do with each other, but have walked hand in hand anyway. most people associate sagging with skaters, graffiti artists and hiphop. that's just the way it is.

furthermore, just because it started with prisons issuing too large pants doesn't mean i think people shouldn't be able to wear pants larger than their fitted size if they opt to. whatever makes you feel comfortable, so long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

i agree that a lot of it is that baggy pants are associated with hip-hop. and unfortunately most government officials and politicians associate hip-hop with crime. but i really think it's more of an appearance thing. they figure that if you dress more conservatively, you'll act more conservatively. what they don't seem to realize is that the amount of criminals in three-piece suits greatly outnumber the amount of criminals wearing baggy pants.
