2pac-related stuff on LA radio

#1
I live in LA and the biggest hip-hop station here is Power 106. So I'm listening to it on the way to USC in the morning and they have the morning show with Big Boy. He's talking about how 2 of the other people from the show, a guy they call Tattoo and a girl called Luscious Liz, had a bet. They were talking about the Tony Danza talkshow and Liz had said that if 2pac were alive he probably would have been one of the first guests on it. The guy said bullshit I bet they never even knew each other.

The bet ended up being that if he was right, she would have to give him a topless lap dance (she's hot) and if she was right (which she obviously was) he would have to get a tattoo of Tony Danza.

Up to this point it's funny, but the cool thing is that Tony actually called up the show. At first I thought it was someone pretending, but it was actually him. He was talking about how he'll randomly write letters to people and since they actually know who he is, they'll usually write him back. Said he even wrote a letter to Chief Justice Roberts and got a reply.

So then he said how he really got into 2pac's music when he heard 'Dear Mama' on the radio, and after that started finding out more info about him. When he heard he had been shot five times and was in jail, he decided to write him. Says it was something along the lines of, "I know you're in a profession where you can't really be a goody two-shoes, but hey, you've been shot five times and you're sitting in jail; it might be time to, you know, re-evaluate things." It might sound kind of condescending, but the way he said it cracked me up.

He says 2pac wrote him back and said that he saw his point of view and that he had been doing a lot of thinking while in jail. He was going to try to change his life for the better when he got out.

Anyway, that made for an interesting morning. Tony's hilarious, and I wish I could've recorded it. Plus I think it's cool how even a somewhat washed-up star still has some power because most of the people in this country know his name. How cool would it be to write anyone a letter and have at least a decent chance they'd write back?
