2Pac - Hopeless Feeling

There is an interview in "Tupac Resurrection" where 'Pac is talking about his fans and he says something along the lines of "Some of my fans are black, some are white, some are rich and some are poor but they all share that hopeless feeling. I got the underdogs on my side." What do people think of this statement? Do you agree with it? I would think that the majority of the people on this board are 'Pac fans, so this quote should resonate with everyone in some way.

If your answer is yes or no, explain why

I had that "hopeless feeling" when I started listening to his music. I thought it was a terrible time of my life, 2pac's music made me feel better. Now I think I try to be optimistic but I guess everybody's got that feeling sometimes.

i agree with what he says. an underdog can be anyone, ive felt hopeless at times in my life and 2pacs music has always influenced me, theres a song for every mood whether i feel on top or fucked over im on his side. definately feeling the quote. i try not to consider his music as rap, its like his own genre, to me its not rap its message music and i usually understand what his message is and what hes trying to say. listening to made niggaz right now that shit is so raw.

I like to listen to Pac becuase almost every song you can relate to...For instance from the song Better Dayz 2pac states "Saving up for some Jordans cuz they dope" and "plus we about to be evicted, cant pay the rent, i guess its time to really see whos your friend" is so true to me becuase i can relate to that...thats why hes so great cuz he can relate to his audience so well...

i enjoy his music because i find the man as intriguing as a good book.

no matter what situation people are in, humans have a tendency to form a balance of good and bad over time. no matter if you're rich or poor/<insert contrast> most people still manage to find some things that make them happy, and some things that haunt them. the richest people in the world are probably also the most stressed out and mentally ill ones lol. i think pac was being pretty universal. on one hand he was saying that the people who can relate to his issues in life will maybe find consolation in the fact that they share their sorrows and pains with him. on the other hand, i think he meant that even people who can't relate to his lifestyle can still relate to the feeling of fear, depression and rage. regardless of what brought it on.

yeah i do agree with that statement cuz thats what u get when u listen to pacs music...he is a down to earth type of guy..and through these "hopeless feelings" u get by listening to his music we can really learn to appreciate things in our own life that we take for granted and the things that we don't have but we wan't, etc, etc.... and in that sense we all can share that hopeless feeling.

Nah, i dont share this feeling. Not at all.

I admire him mostly because he was an unbelievable smart man for only being 25 years old by the time he died.

Such is life; My example: I met a new girl at work, we traveled everywhere together, worked together, rode together chilled together. All of the sudden we had to stay in hotels for work instead of traveling, and she says "i dont wanna room with a girl, i wanna room with u. We had only known each other about a month, I was so happy tho, we hadnt even done anything at this point, besides kiss. So anyways...make a long story short i sealed the deal that night, we went on to live together, and i got her pregnant. I was no longer hopeless, but when her old roommates were moving, we had to move. She quit the job, and instead of getting a place with me, her mom talked her into moving in with her. Her ma is manipulative and basically ruined our relationship 4 no reason. I blew up on her ma over the phone, Its been a few months now and she still hates my gutz. I have 2 cell phones and Heather has one of them, the phone is always off and i leave messages everyday, HOPELESS. Yesterday i played her a track that i recorded 4 her over her voice mail, and she actually called me. I found out finally that im gonna have a little Girl. NO LONGER HOPELESS

thanks, I wish she would come back. The funny thing is that a friend from work seen her at a grocery store and she said for me not to tryn get ahold of her at her ma's cause she got kicked out for owing her ma money. So i dont even know where she is staying, i left her a message to come stay with me anytime. Reguardless I gotta be strong for my girl. Heather said "Im going 4 custody and i will fight tooth n nail". Im like"im not going to fight you, I love u and dont want to hurt U". I know she'll be an excellent mother, this is my first kid and im 28, she is 25.

That's good to hear. I feel hopeless quite often though and that's probably the biggest (and maybe the only) parallel between Tupac's life and mine. So I am able to relate to a lot of his lyrics. I was just curious to see how many people did the same thing.

ianyo2006, congratulations on being a soon-to-be dad and i wish you luck overall.

My relationship with tupac's music is: Listener - Artist

Is that to say that my being/feeling hopeless draws me to his music? or that that is the drive/purpose behind tupacs music - reaching out to the underdogs of society?

I wouldn't say I was hopeless, more deluded at the the time I really got into Tupac. Listening to tupac has helped me overcome a lot of my previous misconceptions about a lot of things - his music is awakening to listen to.

What misconceptions, if you don't mind me asking?
