200 rats fed GM corn. Tumors, serious diseases ... a massacre.

French researchers studied privately for two years, 200 rats fed GM corn.

Heavily toxic and often fatal

Even at low doses, the GM study proves heavily toxic and often lethal to rats. So much so that, if it were a drug, it should be suspended forthwith pending further investigations. Because it is the same GMO found on our plates through the meat, eggs or milk.

Russia halts imports of GMO corn after cancer study

Russia has suspended imports of Monsanto’s genetically-modified corn in light of a French study which linked the crops to cancer.

It's not about GM food. It's because some can't do it right. It's not like GM means poison. It's nothing bad in itself. It just needs to be controlled.

To tell you the truth, this was not a good study at all. Doesn't really prove it. But I liked the headline and Monsanto sucks for a lot of other reasons anyway.

They talk about it being a not so good study in the comments a bit.

I'm not sure if GM foods are good or not at this moment, but I do think they will feed us all soon enough

This news comes on the heels of another experimental animal feeding study carried out over a 10-year period in Norway. It was published earlier this summer, and in this study, genetically engineered (GE) corn and corn-based products were found to cause obesity, and alter the function of the digestive system and major organs, including the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and genitals.

Animals fed genetically engineered Bt corn ate more, got fatter, and were less able to digest proteins due to alterations in the micro-structure of their intestines. They also suffered immune system alterations.

The impaired ability to digest proteins may be of particular concern as this can have far-reaching implications for human health. If your body cannot digest proteins, your body will be less able to produce amino acids, which are necessary building blocks for proper cell growth and function.

Monsanto's GE Corn is Already Losing its Effectiveness, Giving Rise to Superbugs and Superweeds
Related news also sheds light on the massive devastation brought on the environment by GE crops, and how soil destruction ends up affecting your health by decimating the nutrient content in the foods you eat.

Biotech giant Monsanto has launched a desperate damage control effort in the aftermath of a French study which found that rats fed on Monsanto’s genetically-engineered corn were far more likely to suffer tumors, organ failure and premature death.

Aside from the details of the study, a wider question remains. If Monsanto and other GMO giants are so confident in the safety of their products and have no qualms about them being in the food supply, why have they spent a combined total of over $19 million dollars in an attempt to prevent Americans from knowing that their food is genetically modified?

Monsanto has bankrolled a huge campaign fronted by lobbyists in an effort to sink California’s Proposition 37, a bill that would simply mandate genetically modified food and ingredients be labeled at the retail level.

If genetically-modified food is safe and the studies have proven it is safe, why is Monsanto so desperate to keep its presence in our food hidden?

the two previous studies before the French inquiry, the results of which claimed that there was no link between Monsanto’s Roundup Ready herbicide and cancer, were both funded by Monsanto itself.

Is it really just a coincidence that the first study in recent years not to be funded by Monsanto produces completely different results?

the French study went beyond the 90-day period which Monsanto had previously been able to hide behind in claiming their GMO products were safe.

I am not a fan of GM anything. Given the choice, I'll pay the extra and choose organic.
I want to buy a chicken like you did and have an egg to eat from her pussy every so often. Keep a couple of them, actually. Might start growing some veggies too, or at least tell my mom to. We used to have a tomato plant that we kept on the deck and we used to get a good bit of tomatoes every so often, so long as our dogs didn't eat them.

How would I ensure that I wasn't planting a GMO seed? Buy an organic fruit, like a tomato, and plant its seeds? Same with veggies, like carrots? Plant the root or some shit from an organic one?

Buy organic seeds - http://www.organiccatalogue.com/ - This is a UK site. But I'm sure there is an American version.

As for the Chickens. They are flock animals, so they will only be happy with at least 2. One of mine died, and the other is on the way out. But they are 3 years old so I wouldn't expect them to last much longer. Especially as they are hybrids, and they were bred for their laying prowess. They don't seem to live for a long time, but they did lay for 2.5 years.

Ok, Mitch.

Did not know a hen laid one egg a day. I didn't think that was biologically possible. WTF?

Hybrid Hens. Bred for their egg returns. It's not every single day. It's something like 330 eggs a year. If you have 2 hens, you get an egg every day. Most of the time, two.

Now would "hybrid hens" be considered natural or "organic?" Are they bred, the way slave were, to pop out eggs like that or are they artificially genetically modified?
