Note: During our various upgrades over the years certain interviews have been "misplaced." We are now adding them back to our archives. This interview was first published on March 19, 2002.

StreetHop.com: How old were you when you first started rapping and what made you want to get into this industry?

Freeway: Well I've been rapping since I was 13 or 14. When I first seen my man Beans get on that really inspired me to wanna do it, full fledged.

StreetHop.com: How did you get on with Rocafella?

Freeway: I met Beanie Sigel at a club about a year and half before he got signed and he told me when he gets on he was gonna look out for me, and he did. When he got on he came and got me.

StreetHop.com: Was the success of the single "Roc The Mic" a surprise to you or did you know it was gonna blow up?

Freeway: It wasn't a surprise, I didn't know it was gonna be that big but I'm happy.

StreetHop.com: Are you working on your solo album?

Freeway: Yeah its scheduled for June, I'm working on it now.

StreetHop.com: Who will you be working with on your album?

Freeway: The Rocafella family.. Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, Bleek, Cam'Ron, Bink. I got my man Roughedness, my man Juice from Phillie.

StreetHop.com: Will you be featured on any of your label mates albums, such as Cam'Ron?

Freeway: Yeah definitely, I just did a joint for Cam'Ron. We got a Rocafella compilation album coming out in the next couple of months, its gonna be crazy, I got a joint on there.

StreetHop.com: Where do you stand with all the beef that is surrounding Jay-Z at the moment?

Freeway: I'm gonna hold my team down to the fullest, no matter what. You know when your on top everybody wanna take shots at you, he's on top right now.

StreetHop.com: I've read in past interviews that you are a Muslim, how do you balance between your faith and your career, does your religion effect your lyrics?

Freeway: Yeah cause everything you got good and bad, there's a lot of things I say and a lot things I do that I'm not supposed to. I'm not even suppost to be rapping , but what gets me through the day is I know in my heart what I'm supposed to do, and eventually I wanna do that. I wanna get myself together but right now I'm just caught up in the streets.

StreetHop.com: Whats your opinion on the war on terrorism? You think the president is handling it the right way?

Freeway: I guess so, there doing what they can do.

StreetHop.com: In closing in there anything you would like to say to the people reading this right now?

Freeway: Yeah make sure you get the State Property album, make sure you check it out cause its crazy. Make sure you go to see the movie. My album is coming at you in June, its gonna be crazy. One.
