Medvescak. lol.

They play in the Austrian hockey league, which has teams from Slovenia, Hungary and Czech Republic. It's huge in Zagreb. Sell out every match (even though its only a 7000 seater), many of the players are Canadian, even the coach is Canadian. I think it's just a fad, but there were talks about them joining the Russian league...
It's not a fad. Medvescak were HUGE back in the 80s after the Olympics in Sarajevo. Today, they sell out every match and more than double the average crowd of soccer teams in Croatia.

I'll call you this afternoon btw.

Yeah in the 80s, but then it died off just like most sports with the fall of Yugoslavia. Until it's resurgence people seemed to give 2 shits about hockey in Zagreb, at least according to those I knew. People in Zagreb jump on anything... As for doubling fan attendance in soccer, its normal when we have a league of corrupt faggots and Mamic runs everything like a nazi.

Yeah give me a call, I might take a nap as I'm fighting off a cold, if so just leave a message and I'll call you back.

Before the tourny started, I figured Croatia would finish in the top 6... We finished 17th in rank...
Serbia would at least make it to the top 3... They're playing for 7th...
Macedonia? Didn't expect anything from them and now they're in the semis.

France and Spain undoubtedly deserve to be in the Final.

Serbia undoubtedly deserves not to be even in the top 5 with the way they've played the last 3-4 games. One of the main reasons that we looked so terrible against Russia is that we didn't have two key guys in the rotation (Tepic and Rasic). The people who got more minutes as the result (Paunic, Markovic, Bjelica) simply did not step up and didn't treat the game with the urgency that the Russians did.

I think this Euro tournament demonstrated, more than any in recent memory, that a lot of European teams are developing highly aggressive and athletic players, which is contrary to the belief held by most NBA followers. On the other hand, while Serbia does have a few players like that (Rakocevic, Sasa Pavlovic), they haven't even been called up to play because the coach has a view of who meshes well with who regarding chemistry and how he wants the team to play. We play like a team very well, especially in the transition, but we don't have too many players who are fast enough and athletic enough to thrive when they play 1 on 1. While it's a team game after all, you still need players who can step up and not depend on others to win games. By stepping up, that doesn't mean jacking up 3s but shooting well off the dribble, step backs, and so forth.

I agree, France and Spain deserved to be there, but also.....Spain deserved to win the final. Right now, they are ahead of every other Team in Euro land and probablly one of the best of the world. Should be fun to see them play against the US but also Argentina etc .... I wonder how good Spain is on the international level. We'll see in London 2012 or one year later I guess.

However, I agree that the Euro tournament demonstrated the progression of the game over the last (two) decade(s) - as also proved by the number of international players in the NBA. But while players get more atheltic, they'll never forget to teach basics in Europe. At least I hope so. While Kobe has been in Italy last week, he said that he learned so much in Europe - the basics, cutting, moving without the ball etc in Europe while his friends in the US only talked about dunking at that age...... Intersting, cause he's someone that's gotta know it.
