Technology All-in-one Desktop PCs

I'm thinking of buying an All-in-One Desktop PC to upgrade my custom built desktop tower that I currently have (as an upgrade and to also save space and clutter with all the wiring). I am also currently using the LG IPS225 display which is really good and I'd have to sell this to make way for my new set up. However, I'm thinking of waiting a couple of years if I can.

The question I want to ask is:

What do you think desktop PCs be like in 2017 and 2018? If I am to stick with Windows 10 for my desktop experience, will SSD storage become more common? I am seeing lots of 1TB SATA hard drive PCs that are currently in my price range, they are touchscreen and the displays look okay and have a gloss finish. The SSD PCs cost a lot more, and I'm not too sure about SSHDs (Solid State Hybrid Drives) and how good, fast and reliable those are.

Any guidance on this area? And anything else that I should conside/r

  • I could upgrade my existing PC but I'd rather tidy up a bit - easiest way is by getting the all-in-one, especially if I'm going to spend more to upgrade anyway.
  • I don't like using laptops. I know that I could connect a keyboard and mouse, and close the lid using a secondary display.
  • I guess if I want to upgrade or repair the all-in-one, it wouldn't be easy because its really compact and behind the screen. This would probably be more troublesome, as a machine, should anything go wrong such as the display.
  • I'm not a gamer, but a casual user that stores lots of songs on the desktop and one day I may invest in a cloud storage plan. But my internet isn't the fastest and physical storage seems cheaper.
And what would you recommend in case something went wrong with it?
Thank you.
