Working while Studying

#3
Really depends on your class schedule. Often you'll find yourself struggling for time to study if the classes and job are right after one another. I used to run to class from 10 am to 4 pm then work to 5 pm to 12 am. It gets rough. The advantages are obvious. Money.

Tons of people do it, I think it teaches people how to prioritize and budget their time and money considering school is expensive as hell nowadays. But if you dont have to work, dont. I hate work and I wish I could just go to school come home and study. "But it is what is and how it is, is kinda fucked up" - Ras Kass

I worked from 5am to 5pm and went to school from 7pm-10pm, then when I got home, I studied till 1am. I got used to it. I did my school work during the day at my job. It gets tiring after a while. Did this for about six months.

The last few years I was studying 25 hours a week, working 35 hours a week plus work online (pacboard, hitemup.com and streethop.com, as well as work for fatal and ish like that), a weekly radio show, and writing for a magazine, and juggling a social life, friends, too many parties, and a wonderful girlfriend.

Advantages= Money, money, money. With money you can do more stuff, I bought a car and travelled around the world, bought lots of studio gear, etc etc. Stuff I wouldnt do without a job.

Disadvantages= No sleep. I mean NO SLEEP! There were weeks that I was living on 2 hours a night!

What the fuck.. I can't live with at least 8 hours a night. I guess you become immune to less and less amounts of sleep. I better start now.. :(

Advantages: you have the means to do what you want, you also get the experience in the real world if you're already working in a similar domain you'll be at when you get your diploma.

Disadvantages: you don't find much time for yourself, you basically live the life of school/work if you overdo it like Rukas or me (I was studying 20 hours and working about 30 hours a week last semester).

But the hardest thing is to maintain and find the right equilibrium for your own life. Also you got to give props to Rukas to work like a machine and doing moves at the same time and also visiting the whole world.

Peace

Advantages: Money. You buy shit and feel good about that paycheck in the end of the day.

Disadvantages: Can destroy your mind state for studying. You only think of working cause the money is addictive and you don't study.....

I dont work much, but study full-time at university. I never have any money but on the plus side I have been able to put my study first which meant my grades were in the 10 percent of the country. :thumb:
