Whats more important to you in Hip Hop song?

Do you like a mix of two/three of em? Cant have them all. Thats rare.

Personally i would have to go with Lyrics - Flow. If you got both down and it fits the beat like a glove its gonna be hot.

to me its a mix of; lyrics, flow and messege. I couldnt care less if it has a catchy hook, or even if it has one. If the beat is dope, its a bonus.

But to me an ill hip hop track is something i can get an acapella version of and still say damn, thats ILL. Not trying to discredit the beats, cuz i think production is a big part of the track. But to me i'd rather listen to an ill lyricist than an ill producer.

Depends what mood i'm in and what music I want to listen to but Lyrics usually stand out for me.

id say beat and lyrics, mostly beat. because no matter how good the lyrics or message is, if the beat is shitty, the song will put me to sleep (ex: IT-Cause of Death). it needs to be at least decent. i might listen to the song when im feeling "deep" but otherwise thats it. and you gotta remember music has always been about the sound listen to mozart and beethoven so it definitely is a big influence.

Good point. Yea i didnt think of originality. For example, Nas - Rewind. Great song. But i have also seen it backfire when some try to be experimental and original.

It has nothing to do with something of it being great, just if it fits my taste. Like for instance that new 50 cent song produced by Havoc, for some reason I actually like it. Guarantee there are a lot more people who do not. Just something that sounds good to me I guess.

I would say message, if i was doing the poll but its more of a personality thing for me. I love when artists, not only rappers, who inject themselves into their art. It is hard to listen to pure random, corny, played out, bullshit.

I can listen to all types of different types of rap. Like on the way back home from work just 15 min ago i was listenin to Master P feat UGK- "Break em off somethin" followed by blackalicious "shallow days". these people (excluding master P) bring something fresh and new to the track and i can just feel that shit through my bones.

Live instrumentation really helps though.
