What was up with the 2pac still i rise album

Why they re-did the beat is beyond me. That original beat would have fit that album better, imo.

Oh yea, did any of you guys ever see the interview that Big Syke did on CNN i in late '97? I think Larry king was the host, but im not 100% sure.. Basically he was talking about the bootlegs that had just hit the streets and how Pac was... I remember watching it, but I cant remember what else they talked about.. Does any1 have the interview? If so, could you post the link? Thanks!

That was a lot of us in 1998, after R U Still Down and before Greatest Hits. And that was when we used to have to buy CD-Rs of songs from people. The stuff that took a lot of us weeks upon weeks to acquire at the time could be found in one long afternoon nowadays.

I didn't really know who Pac was in 98, so I can't relate .

I remember the commercial on BET clearly cuz they played hell 4 a hustler.. ova here in the nj/nyc area it didnt get hardly any airplay.. I always used to listen to hot 97 at the job i was at then, and i think i heard Baby Dont Cry 2 or 3 times max... It was all about DMX then, his album dropped that week or around that time.I'm sure it did alot better in cali, the rest of the country, etc.

yeah DMX and 2pac had albums drop December 21st 1999, and Jay-z had an album drop a week later I believe

Baby Dont Cry video made it on TRL a few times i remember, thats the last time I've seen it infact

My favorite pac after-96 release, even if the Lawz suck generally.

...minus E.D.I. I was a little disappointed with Johnny "J" too. Not to say that he sucked, but his beats on the retail version are almost night-and-day when compared to the overall aura and feel of the OGs. But most others dropped pretty solid beats.

Look for ElitePete4k's "OG Vibe" in Mix Em Up, its over a barely audible amplified clip of Still Ballin OG, so you can get an idea of how the beat is.

I always remember that the album debuted at number 7 in its first week, although that kinda gives you a false impression because it was christmas week and a lotta CDs were dropping then, Cant remember the exact units it sold, someone said 400,000 which sounds about right, Pretty certain the album IS 2 times platinum, I remember EDI boasting about it on an interview, i think he even mentions it on a song too, plus i remember MTV Biorhythm when they flashed all Pac's albums across the screen and STILL I RISE came up with "2x Platinum" across it....and that was in like 2000, RIAA Cant really be trusted, that site seems to have a lot of things wrong even though you would think it would be pretty accurate


Anyway onto the actual album itself, ive always loved it....Pacs raps are amazing on that album, maybe its just because hes with the Lawz? I really dont know, but he outshines them so bad on every song, Id give the album like 8/10, The Lawz hold up their end on it as well as they can, and its a tight album i think....and like many have said, worth buying for the booklet alone lol...Peace

Hell yea... my 1st bootlegs were makaveli 2 thru 4.. got em in like mid or late 1997 I think..only 5 bucks each from a vendor in chinatown nyc... They came in these gold cds with Pacs picture in the middle and most of the songs had that "muthafucking express tag".. . The next ones i got were from this guy on this site called PacUp... It had a bunch of people like us (real Pac fans) but their was always the dumbest rumors going around though...

I'm pretty certain that it was AT LEAST in the top three. DMX's ...And Then There Was X outsold it, I think one more album (not hip-hop, maybe country or something) might've outsold it as well. But I think the next week it was between 7 and 10.

Yea its been a minute since Pacup... My OG Pac bootlegs that came in gold are long gone though.. The labels started to peel about a 2 years ago so I just made copies of em... Yea its been 8 years... Long muf***in time!!!
