Tongue Kissing as a single

#1
I noticed in the other thread someone said that if Amaru wants this album to sell really well, then they ought to release the Tongue Kissin OG as a single - I could not agree more.

I think that this song could easily, in the form it currently is in, be a huge hit in today's music. The (almost identical) beat was good enough to let a song filled with Jon B for 3.5 minutes and 50 seconds of Pac rapping sell over a million copies.

If anyone here possesses the ability to speak to anyone at Amaru, I think that this is something they ought to be told.

Releasing this song as a single, as well as a "Riding on Bitch Made Niggaz"-sort of track (1st To Bomb is pretty amazing lyrically) would effectively springboard Pac's album up to the level of respectablity as his original albums.

Random Pac Fan: "Hey whats up. You know - Tongue Kissin OG is a great track, why don't you use it for the new album's lead single!"

Amaru: "Hmmm, that's not a bad idea. I'll get on it right away!"

Do you see how unrealistic that is? It's seriously not going to happen.

i agree,it could be a single. not a smash hit but it's radio friendly and i could see some kind of video concept for it. but as far as the production i would change it,for a single i would make the instrumental a little more up tempo,it's a slow jam but with a good production switch it could be a banger.

I think making a new, more up tempo beat would just kill tha whole vibe of it. I agree, release tha OG as a single and then release First 2 Bomb or something similar as tha 2nd single.

If the production was to be altered the only person i would allow to touch it would be Jon B himself. His last album Stronger Everyday was a solid LP with some brilliant RnB.

I love this song and I agree it would make a great single, but there is no chance in hell that amaru would do that. The single will have to feature someone, and have to be remixed. It's fun to dream though.

I think that most of the Pac's unreleased songs could NEVER be released as singles with their OG beats, but Tongue Kissing is an exception. The only other exception I can think of is If You Play Your Cards Right (I think that beat sounds surprisingly modern for a 96 Pac song).

And note above in my suggestion of 1st to Bomb as a single, I would not want that to be released in its OG form. Even though Pac's verses are amazing, its OG beat is pretty terrible (though likely unfinished). Pac verses from 1st to Bomb paired with verses from the likes of Busta Rhymes or others who rap intensely would be very popular.

the beat is hot as hell, but the lyrics on this song is some of pac's worst imo. i really really understand why this became a scrap and nothing more.

Tongue Kissing cannot be released as it is because Jon B. already used that beat (at least the same beat but modernized). I wouldn't mind a new beat over it such as something similar to Bobby Valentino's "Slow Down".

Does anyone here think they can make a mix of Tongue Kissing if the vocals are available with the instrumental to Bobby Valentino's "Slow Down"? I feel it would be a fire mix.

ithink they should take the same approach as 50 or game do,drop street single 4 first, the drop 1 4 the radio which is catchy then drop somethig abit deeper an example using better days album wouldstreet fame as the street single, thug mansion [solo 1] as the 1st single with still ballin on the b side then never call u bitch again as the 2nd single

i wouldnt go with tongue kissing. I would go with Play Your Cards Right. I was fuckin pissed when I heard Next singing to the instrumental on Imagine...but I think a reunion featuring pac and kci/jojo would really hit with the audience. Plus ive been waiting to hear that song forever in its original format on a 2pac album.

is it just me or has no one else listened to the lyrics for both "tongue kissin" and "play your cards right." These are both pretty shitty songs and the word play is very basic. I know we're getting desperate for a hot single, but i doubt it'll happen. If this album sells well, it will be because they promote it as 2pac's last album. I would be very surprised if production and featured artists change much from the past three albums.

but on the other hand...if this is 2pac's last album, this will be the last time anyone can post these pipe dreams, so you might as well get it out of your system now.
