This irks me

Ok so this thread basically encapsulates how I now use this board.

I began reading the first posts, and being interested in reading each person's comments. This carried on for a few pages. Then people started saying things like "*racist/pedophile etc etc* jokes ARE funny.. see" and this caused me to start skipping past the next few, then the next page til I really just felt like leaving.

YOU may find a particular kind of joke or word funny, that's fine. But some don't. Pedophile jokes revolt me, I seriously feel sick to the stomach when I read something like that. I really can't understand how anyone could. Someone close to me has experienced that as a child, I have 2 Nephews and a Niece and the thought of anyone touching them is unimaginable. Reading those jokes makes me think of that and THAT is something I do not want to spend my spare time doing.

Now this is personal to me, as I'm sure Kobe felt the racism is personal to him, and I am not saying any one person MUST feel as I do. But if we want this board to survive and perhaps even grow we ALL might want to consider others. I know the internet is a big anonymous space we can dump shit we'd never say to anyone face to face but reflect on why you spend your time here.

I used to come here often, now I find myself starting to read a few pages and leave. Maybe it's me that's changed.

Your post is fair. We definitely should try to be more considerate of others. My question is, how do you find that the threads have changed in, let's say, the last 2 years? Unless you mean you used to come here often in 2004.

If someone wants to make a proposed list of changes on this board, make it happen, and we can discuss them and try to implement them.

1. Giving the authority to determine replay reviews to the replay official in the booth, not the referee on the field.
2. Modifying the horse-collar tackle rule to remove the exception for quarterbacks in the pocket, so that a quarterback in the pocket may not be yanked down by the back of his shoulder pads or inside collar of his jersey.
3. Changing overtime so that the postseason rule will be used in the regular season as well, and no regular-season games will be ended on a field goal on the first possession of overtime.
4. Adding a loss of down to the penalty for kicking a loose ball, as is the case in college football.
5. Adopting the college rule for too many men on the field, which is a dead-ball foul if a team lines up on offense for more than three seconds, or if a team on defense lines up with too many men and the snap is imminent. In those cases, the officials will blow the play dead and assess a five-yard penalty. This change wouldn’t affect the rulings on players running off the field who don’t get off in time.
6. Expanding the defenseless player rule to protect defensive players on crackback blocks, making it illegal to hit them in the head or neck area.
7. Automatically reviewing turnovers via instant replay, just as scoring plays are automatically reviewed.

Used to probably 2 years ago haha.. I don't know, I think the humour has changed quite a bit. I don't want to point out why the board is different now, because as I said I don't come here often. I just know I come into here and within a thread 'n a half I leave. Never used to be like that.. As I said maybe it's me.

Probably because the board is no long about hip hop? Or at least Our Block doesn't have as many posts regarding music of any kind as it should for a forum about music. That might be one reason.

Like it or not, there is maybe a dozen of us (probably even less) that are [regularly] active on here. We're not a website anymore, we're like this sick little e-family that enjoys breaking one anothers balls over anything and everything and shuns anyone that tries to meddle with us.

It's great.

It really was the best birthday ever. It started just before midnight on Friday the 13th, and did not end until 4 AM this Sunday morning. No sleep and seven of the best friends you could ask for. Fights at a bar where the military was present with M16s, people getting run over by cars, near-rape incidents, the beach, a blind board on the beach and the class president trying to mount it and it nearly one-boar-stampeding the entire beach. I felt like a princess that day when everyone wished me, including this cute chick I liked. Of course, she promptly turned to the bar tender to get a drink and left. It's ok. She shook my hand. I didn't wash it. And masturbated with it. Not really #maybe.

Tomorrow is gonna interesting. No one died. There were arrests. And a girl has already declared war on another girl and plans to act upon it at school tomorrow in class. Physically. Indians.

I thought this was an appropriate time for a joke about abducting her. Then I realised the current SH climate, and decided not.
Go for it. If even one person can appreciate it, that should be more than enough for you to say it.
