And the circumstances that led to the founding of one's country and government is certainly something that the education establishment would require to be common knowledge, unless of course there has been a colossal failing on the part of said establishment. Something of course that is all too true for the US, where 16-18 year olds regularly fail at tests that 11-12 year olds in other countries pass.
Hence why President Obama is increasing the number of days in each school year by a further few weeks, he is all too aware that the bar needs to be raised.
