Pig Flu

Pig farmers are complaining and asking the media to stop calling it the swine flu. It's killing their business. You can't catch it from eaing pigs and no pig has yet been identified as having this particular strain. True enough. But show me almost any new infectious disease, and I'll show you an enviromental change brought about by humans that either caused or exacerbated it.

Bird flu could become the next pandemic because of the way chickens are raised on these mega-farms. And that would make this one look like the sniffles.

I know, instead of the swine flu, let's call it the tofu flu! Overcrowding those soybeans, you know.

That's good, but only by visiting a farm can one know for sure how the animals are being raised and killed. Factory farms, whether organic or not, are less likely to be run humanely. Family farms much better.
RSPCA do checks, they are pretty strict on it.. This is from the website:

Accredited egg and pork producers pay a royalty to the RSPCA. All royalties from accreditation are used to pay specialist officers who carry out regular inspections of the accredited properties, to fund the development of certification standards and to fund ongoing campaigns aimed at improving the welfare of farm animals.
RSPCA Australia

I wont post the whole thing but it goes on about what they expect from farmers. Obviously it's better to see it first hand but if I had to take another organisations word for it, it'd be the RSPCA.

I don't get what the GIF clip from Prince's 'Black Sweat' video is supposed to represent, keco and sofi. I know what he meant in the context of that video, but I'm not sure why you felt the need to post it here.
