I never hear this song get talked about much. I think its an epic type of song along with Keep Ya Head Up and Dear Mama cuz just like them, I could relate to "playin catch by myself" or "its hard for son to see his mother cry, she only loves you but has to fuck with these other guys". Every lyric is pretty much about me (and a bunch of kids who can relate to the fatherless epidemic). The hook, the melody, the concept and vibe. Even the video is real deep. I'm mad Pac didn't sound as angry as he did in the album audio, but still the video is very touching. It was pretty smart (and cool) how Pac used his souljah voice for telling the father's perspective of his absence in his son's life. The scene with Pac in prison lookin at his dad behind bars and rappin with him said a whole lot to me. Then seein the father cry...in some aspects, it just as deep as Dear Mama. The video even had Vivica Fox in it
Even though I usually don't like Mopreme, he really came thru in this with his best verse in my opinion. Its ashame it didn't make it on to Greatest Hits or Best Of.
But what do you guys think? Even though this was a hit (semi-hit it seems), it barely gets any play or critique.
"...and I wished you understand, all I ever wanted was for you to be a man; and grow to be the titan you was meant to be..."
