A variety of top name rappers and celebs will join Afeni Shakur in celebrating the 40th birthday of Tupac Shakur this June. Rappers Bun B., 8 Ball and MJG, Too $hort, DJ Drama will join with R&B singer Erykah Badu in celebrating Tupac's birthday on June 16th in Atlanta.

Comedian Mike Epps has been tapped to serve as host of the celebration, which comes as DeKalb, County, Georgia honors Tupac on June 16th, which officials have officially declared "Tupac Shakur Day."
So, what do you guys think about this idea? Is celebrating Pac's 40th taking it too far after all these years? Which artists would you have liked to see featured for this celebration?

Personally, I'm not too keen on '2pac dates'. His birth and death day come and go and are normally just at the back of my mind. I hardly even knew he would have been 40 this year if he were still alive.

If Afeni really wanted to honor Pac's memory she should stop doing this type of bullshit (which is clearly her just trying to cash in on the people attending much like the "plaques" that are being sold by her) and honor him instead by releasing a proper fuckin 2pac album!

the music should be released in the cheapest and most un-altered way possible. they could make one remix per album and use it as a single if they want promotion, and leave the rest untouched. i imagine the majority of people who buy a tupac album anymore would continue to do so regardless of whatever it is, original versions, partially remixed or fully remixed, so long as it features new tupac songs. the need to make it current is no longer there imo, so like DP said, if she really wanted to honor him she would do so by treating his long time fans before they too turn old and die.

I agree, I can't stand the shit she has turned his music into and what's up with these "celebrations?" Hardly anybody involved in his real life are ever a part of these things. Where is snoop and the rest of the old crew? Why are they never a part of any Tupac celebrations?
