Original Concept and tracklisting MATW?

#1
Tupac talks about it a couple of times, i believe, in a few interviews. That when Biggie came out with Ready To Die that it was similar to the idea Pac had for his MATW album, and that he had to flip the whole album around and scratch out some of the songs, or all..?

I know that the theme of the album was supposed to be death, like he says in the interviews and obviously RTD is about it. But i'd like to know which songs where planned to be on the album before Pac discovered Big jacked his idea?? Does anyone know this? and be willing to share this on the board, along with some other info surrounding this...? like, was the original title also MATW?

yeah ive always thought this since i heard pac go on about it. Like nothin to lose became Me Against The World. I can also think of a few of BIGs tracks which are similar to RUSD tracks. look at Juicy with BIG an his mom in the vid = Dear Mama. Junior MAFIA Get Money or Gimme The loot = Im Gettin Money.

thank God... me against the world is 100x better than out on bail as a name for an album... it's his best album IMO... in between the old school and the mainstream pac days

Out on Bail was the original name for THUG LIFE, not Me Against The World.

I'd think tracks like Only Fear Of Death would have been on Me Against The World but were cut because A) The whole Biggie thing, and B) The whole Stretch thing.

Dante has said Only Fear Of Death was made for Thug Life

Thug Life was, without a doubt, originally titled Out On Bail.

If I'm not mistaken, the hitemup.com rare facts said that the original title for Me Against The World was Crucified.

aye, but i never ever remember seeing a source for that one. it was on all the pac sites for years.

i don't think the album was supposed to be called "crucified" and that all the plans were made. instead, i think pac always had a desire to release an album with that theme to it, but never got around to.

It may have been recorded initially for Thug Life, but I think that this is one of the main songs that Pac can (rightfully) claim that Biggie imitated which therefore made him unable to use it on Me Against the World.

To an extent, Pac's claim that Biggie's album copied his style seems like bullshit. However, if Only Fear of Death is one of the songs in question, it makes it a little more credible. Could anyone actually make a list of songs that were potentially intended for Me Against the World that Biggie seems to have imitated?

We've got:

Hellrazor (overall message stolen)
Only Fear of Death (Suicidal Thoughts)
I'm Gettin Money (Gimme the Loot)
Dear Mama (Juicy...a stretch, I know)

what else?

That would be Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z., and the original title was Troublesome 21.

^^^ay i may be crazy too LOL but i remember hearing in an interview that the title of MATW was suppose to be "Hellrazor" also. it may have been on "a current affair" or "hardcopy" or one of thhose tv shows like that because i also remember em playing a clip of the song hellrazor too...and they were saying that it was the title song of the album

The song "Ready 2 Die", "Things Done Changed" & "Everyday Struggle" always sounded like Pac songs

Everyday Struggle=Oldschool (maybe Lord Knows)
Things Done Changed=Definition Of A Thug Nigga
Ready 2 Die=Outlaw & Fuck The World
Warning=When I Get Free I

And My Block sounded like somethin BIG might've took to, can't think of nothin yet

just my ideas

i've always thought juicy was a straight up copy of old school and that maybe all 2pac done was change the beats to a lot of the songs. It's the lyrics in juicy and old school and the overall theme of the songs are just ridiculously similar

I remember Mr. Magic Flash, Grand Master Cash, L.L raisin' hell but it didn't last Eric B. and Rakim was da shit ta me I'd flip to see a Dougie Fresh Show with Rickie G and Red Alert was puttin' in work, and Chuck Chill had my homies on the hill gettin' ill, when
shit was real. Well I can still remember Raw with Daddy Cain, when De La Soul was puttin' potholes in the game. I can't explain how it was, Whodini had me puffin' on dat buddha gettin' buzzed, cuz there I was Them block parties in da projects and on my block and tic ya don't stop ya sippin' on dat private stock. And through my speakers Queen Latifah and MC Lyte Listen to treach and KRS ta get me through the night. With Te La Rock and Madtronics with Stetsasonic, remember when Push it was da bomb shit, Ain't nothin' like da old schoo

It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
Hangin' pictures on my wall
Every Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl
I let my tape rock 'til my tape popped
Smokin' weed and bamboo, sippin' on private stock
Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack
With the hat to match
Remember Rappin' Duke, duh-ha, duh-ha
You never thought that hip hop would take it this far
Now I'm in the limelight 'cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade
Born sinner, the opposite of a winner
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner
Peace to Ron G, Brucey B, Kid Capri
Funkmaster Flex, Lovebug Starsky
I'm blowin' up like you thought I would
Call the crib, same number same hood
It's all good
